To Synthesize an Air Horn

You know what I'm talking about, those spray can looking things with the plastic horn on top, you hear them at soccer games....
So I'm wanting to try and synthesize that sound. My only guess would be to drop the pitch in the beginning and keep the amp envelope fairly flat. Any ideas?

Sample it.

It may be tricky using subtractive synthesis. A starting point could be a bright and poweful brass patch, add a pitch envelope as you describe, then some heavy distortion/waveshaping.

Thanks for the tip, this worked pretty well, though the distortion didn't add much.adydub wrote:It may be tricky using subtractive synthesis. A starting point could be a bright and poweful brass patch, add a pitch envelope as you describe, then some heavy distortion/waveshaping.

I can guess mate. Actually I was about to ask what was an Air Horn (didn't know it was called like that) but googled it instead and found that video among other info.
Just couldn't resist posting it

that was a good stab at it! i think the envelopes shoud be a little quicker though. i think alot of the enveloped sound in an air horn is from reverberations that modify the percieved pitch.
