Just Got A Roland JX-3P For $10

So a neighbor was having a garage sale and he had the JX-3P out there. It was marked as $10, which I thought had to be $100. When I asked how much, he confirmed it was only $10. He didn't even know if it worked...said it was found in his closet. Not a scratch on it. It had some tape residue and a slightly bent Sens slider thats it. Took some rubbing alcohol to it, cleaned it up and its damn near looking like it came right out of the box. Sounds great and easy to program (didn;t come with the P-200 external controller).

Not bad getting an near perfect analog synth for $10.

Thanks for that. Yeah, there is a silked screen diagram on the right corner of the synth that shows you all of that info. Pretty easy to program for push button/slider. I've read the P-200 gives you a little more in depth editing abilities but I don't see myself stubling across one of those easily (or for an amount I'm going to want to spend for just a little more editing possibilities).

I honestly bought it thinking; "Well, I an circuit bend it if nothing else.". Little did I know it would work perfectly.

It's a great synth. Very under-rated. The main downfall is the *very* limited MIDI implementation (it was one of Roland's first synths with MIDI). You can't use MIDI and the programmer at the same time.

I'm told that the rackmount version isn't a 1:1 copy, even though it uses the same programmer. Supposedly there are significant sonic differences between the two. I've never heard the rack myself though.

I just got repairing a bunch of cloged key arteries on this vintage Roland S10..

Feels really good bringing these dinosaurs back to life! My next project is bringing a DX10's breath control back to scratch.. Wish me luck..

Lucky guy, you!

I owned it nearly 20 years ago and still miss some of it's sounds...
Had to sell it cause I was a poor student then. Regret it most!

P.S: It was just yesterday - for the 1st time - that I googled for it to see some specs and images of it.

its a player keyboard, not a sequencer, as you canot tweak the knobs while receiving midi if you don't mod it, so you either play and use the pg200 or sequence and maybe vary the cutoff with the sens fader as it wont even receive control change or nprn, but i like it anyway, its my practice key
and i use it for pas, as its about the only thing i can play on a keyboard
