you know what i'm talking about, those chunky ass leads and riffs they had on the vegas album. i've been able to get in the ballpark before, but nothing quite as sweet. sorry i can't post any clips as i lost my cd, but if you've heard 'em you know i'm sure. their leads and similar sounds are so full, but so sweet as they leave lots of room for others, how do they do it? is it the right synth with the right disto and compression, or is it just the right synth? i love the way everything in that album has a touch of acid sprinkled on it. any tips on getting that kind of sound would be appreciated. i know it's a pretty broad request, but i notice that alot of the same techniques were used throughout the album, just can't quite nail it down.
on a similar tip, is there any good tuts or articles that anyone knows of to get started in acid types of sounds, what i'm really looking for is pattern tips, as a 303 is not all that complex, it's just how it is used in the timeline, right?

I can't speak with any authority as to what synths they used, but I do remember seeing a brief interview clip where they were showing a bunch of distortion pedals. So yes, I would guess that its a combination of distortion, compression, and the right synth.
