Hello,

i got an email from EMU and they announced that for some time Steinberg would offer an update to Cubase 4 from the Cubase LE version which is a standard by-product to some EMU (and others) hardware for a reduced price (up the 50% reduced..)

Unfortunately they forgot to say 'reduced from what :? ' and the Steinberg webpage is a bit shy with informations as well - at least here in Germany.

2 short questions

- does anybody know the real reduction
- is this update a full version i.e. suited for further updates in the future..?

If this topic is already handled in another thread please inform me about the address

and please - i am just looking for info and did not want to start the next 'ABC' is much better than 'DEF' battle

thanx

I know that E-MU / Steinberg offer.

The upgrade price is the 50% of the MSRP ($999.99 / €879,00 for Cubase 4).

So for $500 or €440 you would get the full version of Cubase 4, which otherwise is still more than a crossgade version in the US.

The crossgrade is only $350 at ScitScat Music.

And don't forget to get a Steinberg Key USB dongle for C4.

I can vouch for scitscat.com - i ordered the cubase 4 "competetive upgrade" last week for $349 + 2-day fedex shipping -- and without having to supply any documentation for an existing sequencer (which in my case would've legitimately been Logic) .. when you call you get the feeling this business is being run out of someone's garage since it sounds like a very small room with people talking on other phones in the background, but hey I got the product as promised.

next stop is ordering some dvd tutorials for C4 so I can get up and running fast.. its sure a big change from Logic. thank god they have instrument tracks now (like Logic has had since v4) because I hate that f*cking vst instrument rack of SX3 and earlier.

WOW! that makes it worth buying some random interface (i.e., that $80 Behringer thing) just to get a couple hundred dollars knocked off the price of Cubase 4.

...dunno how up-to-date it is, but worth looking at.

Also also note: Even SX2 is an upgrade from LE since you get the gorgeous 32-bit float audio engine. It's worth trying to find deals on SX2 and SX3. The only people who *need* Cubase4 (from a technical, not practical perspective) are Mac Intel users since Cu4 and Cu4studio are the only ones that are Universal Binary.

ps - i <3 Nuendo and Cubase .. switched from Logic 6

thanx for the answers,

i think Steinberg is just stupid not to market their offer after accepting the cooperation with E-MU and others.

they are still announcing their old prices. Some days after they got a much customer friendly offer this looks simply ridiculous.

Hello Lance, do you have good experiences with: ScitScat Music? For me sending some hundred $ to some postal address is quite some money. Do you think they are reliable?

Crossgrade? You mean if I wanted to, I could give up the Cubase LE CD which came with my 0404 and get Cubase4 for $350?!

Not that I like Cubarse anyway :hihi: but I KNOW my neighbor would be interested.

No not exactly. The change from Cubase LE to 4 is an UPgrade with a 50% price reduction, the company Lance has mentioned offers CROSSgrades this means you should be a registered user of a sequenzer programm of another company...

I still don't have it figured out. Steinberg says that the discount for C4 and C Studio 4 is "up to 50%." I can't find anywhere, what that means in real terms. I have emailed a local dealer to find out. It had better not be 6%.
