hy,
i am using my Electribe EMX1 to play synth patterns in my live setup, (mostly bass-sounds)
it sounds cool, but it's not meant for this.
i would really like to use it more for crunshy synths then bass.
therefore i am looking for a cool hardware unit wich could play some nice, fat bass-lines.
(playing minimal techno)
i am running an mpc as the master unit, sending midi to the rest of the setup.
who can give me an advice for a cool sounding bass-unit,
i could integrate within my liveset?
price: best not more than 800, at the most 1000$
hardware-tool for bass

if you like fm synthesis try yamaha dx200.
you get mono/poly unison modes and it has a multimode filter for subtractive stuff and effects like distortions & modulations. you can record some knobs automations too to make lines more interesting.
plus, it has a scene morphing knob that can shift between two sounds for pretty funky changes, and you can make some pattern juggling by changing speed, rolling portions of pattern and so on...nice for going live.
imo you can get really hard techno sounds from it.

not new, 2001/2002 circa, payed a bit less than 300e at the time. there's also the 2 osc VA version, AN200.
I don't see it much around, neither. but there's a chance you might find some good deal.
I made a personal midi-vst to control my dx200 from within my host using parameters automation. If you get one, pm me and I'll send you the plugin.
