well its not my PC but a mates, he let his brother use it & now when trying to enable internet connection sharing to my other network connection i get this error msg

":!: an error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled.

The specified service dose not exist as an installed service."

any tips on how to reinstall this service?

WinXP SP2

Try this:- Start - Run - type: "netsh winsock reset" (without the quotes), then reboot. Did that help any?

This is what your mate should do:

Open the Local Area Connection Properties, uninstall the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Client for MS Networks, File and Printer Sharing for MS Networks, (if your using it) NetBios protocols from the computer youz share from.

Restart and reinstall them. Then setup sharing again. If it doesn't work, I would do the same thing to the other computer.

I used to connect this way before I owned routers. Sometimes the protocols can become corrupted on a reg level. Give it a try, let us know ok!
