It depends on the version of the GIGA files. Pre-v3 files can be converted with a variety of tools such as CDXextract, Kontakt, etc. V3 files can only be played with either GigaStudio 3 or GVI.

Samplelord is pretty nice, especially the latest update.
I usually just convert the .gig files using Extreme Sample Converter.

Based on history the last two years, I expect SampleLord (and EXSC) will be better-supported than VSampler (which is all but an abandoned product).Zycat wrote:So which one's better? Samplelord or VSampler?

I haven't tested the keyswitching myself.samplelord.com wrote:- supports Dimensions, Keyswitching, Cycle Ribbon, Cycle Random, Crossfading, Controller Switching, Controller's crossfading.
SampleLord is nice. No-nonsense player, streams all formats from disk (VSampler converts them first, AFAIK) and has great support. Well worth the asked price, in my opinion.
The demo is filly functional - so you can check if it supports what banks you have.

Alright, seems like Samplelord wins.
Although, I don't find anywhere in Samplelord that allows me to build my own keyswitches.
Anyway, do you think the bundle (Samplelord + Extreme Sample Converter) worth it? I'm not sure if I want to convert anything though, since most of my files are either in Kontakt or Giga (and I don't want to convert my Giga files)

This is incorrect.LijEyasu wrote:It depends on the version of the GIGA files. Pre-v3 files can be converted with a variety of tools such as CDXextract, Kontakt, etc. V3 files can only be played with either GigaStudio 3 or GVI.
Giga3 files can be converted with Translator (www.chickensys.com), and Kontakt2 does open Giga3 files.

Making keyswitching would be a big asset.Zycat wrote:Samplelord looks interesting. Can it do "Stacked instruments" with keyswitching like Giga can? How well does it load Giga files?

What about GS3 instruments using iMidi rules and embedded GigaPulse convolution?chickeneps wrote:This is incorrect.LijEyasu wrote:It depends on the version of the GIGA files. Yes to the former and no to the latter. There's some research in getting the GigaPulse things pulled out but I think they are protected.
