TSL Preset Templates Quick Guide

TSL Preset Templates for TSW Pro VST, TSW, Ethnotronics, vox'd and all TSL Libraries like Orchestral Strings, Futuresphere, Score Tools, ThePulse etc.

Presets making like the pros? Actually it's not that easy. It needs knowledge about acoustic, synthesis types, sampling and a lot of more skills. Many sounddesigners are doing this since many years, making their experiences and also learning by doing. Some of them are making money with this job. Usually the results of a sounddesigner's work is available as Preset. So nearly all existing synthesizers and sampleplayers have Presets aboard, with different timbre colors, for specific musical styles, whatever. And the amount of Presets might be huge, sometimes it's real work just to find out where the personal favorites are. And it's real work too to organize large Presets and Sample Libraries.

The new TSL Presets are a solution for both: Making Presets easy even for beginners and improving the library organization.

TSW Pro VST is a samplebased synthesizer driven by the loaded waveforms, multisamples and one-shot samples, the ws-engine's name for this is SoundSet. A Preset can mix up to 4 SoundSets plus 2 Wavesequences. A Wavesequence can chain several SoundSets and replay them as a looping row of sounds. All TSW Pro VST Presets are working like this.

Now for the Preset making. If you view the waveform display on the left site on the screen you can read the name of the used SoundSet, for example: Grand Piano. A mouse click on the name opens the SoundSet folders. Choose one, pick another SoundSet. Now it's name will appear on the mentioned waveform display, for example: Legato Strings. Now you can play on the MIDI-connected keyboard the new SoundSet. Surely the existing Grand Piano Preset settings will not sound very suitable for Legato Strings, although the SoundSet itself sounds fine. What to do? Use the TSL Preset Templates!

The TSL Preset Templates are typical basic settings for different timbre characters with pre-programmed Envelope, Filter, Effects etc. The only difference to a regular Preset is that a TSL Preset Template is free in using the SoundSet as there is no specific SoundSet already setted (pre-setted). The Preset Template is the entire frame of the Preset and you can choose the SoundSet on demand. This is a very quick method to create your own Preset, even if you never before programmed a samplebased synthesizer.

How it works:

- Check the TSL Presets Template list to get an impression about the content.
- Choose your favourite Preset Template and load it.
- Assign a SoundSet from any of your SoundSet folders.
- Adjust specific Parameters like Volumes and Envelopes
- Rename and save the Preset – done!

It sounds easy and it is easy! Even if you never before made a Preset. The result is a custom Preset perfectly adjusted to your song, music, soundtrack. No more walking through endless Presets archives just to get a specific sound.

The Preset Templates are named to be already recognized by reading the name. They're no Ersatz for all those ultra-layered pulsating fatwarmpower Presets TSW Pro is famous for, but very usable for all the “normal” sounds with just one SoundSet or two and “normal” Envelope settings comparable to Piano, Guitar, Strings, Organ, Bass, LeadSynth etc. The number of Preset Templates is intentionally small as possible.

All new 57 TSL Preset Templates are exclusively for TSW Pro, TSW, TSL and vox'd owners and if not already provided with the download links available as free of charge update.

The TSL Preset Template are available in the formats fxb, bnk and PRST (WS1) and two PDF docs with the category organized and alphabetical listings are included.

You can request this Quick Guide as PDF too. If there are questions when practically working with them you can post it here, perhaps we can expand the Quick Guide with more handling and sound programming hints, depends on your questions.

To be continued.

Cheers
