I just got some but would like to hear other opinions.......simply for curiosity.

I've had them for about 2 years now. Honestly, I can't quantify their contribution with any kind of precision, but they bring me great piece of mind. I mean, any de-coupling is better than no de-coupling! And they were nice and affordable. And they look cool.

Now why did I know you'd be the one to answer first

I just got some vtx4's, but have not been able to put them through the "test" yet......air conditioning is out and although someone is comming out tommarow, I think it will be monday or tuesday before it gets done. What I mean is it's just too hot in the day and the windows are open at night......so no go till fixed!

I tried out what I could at GC (the only game in town here)

the 6 and 8 versions of vxt
dynaduio bm5a's
yamaha hm80's
the new mackies (both)
the jbl 4328's
and older v8's and v6's

The thing about these were they held up against ALL the above. The vxt8's BLEW CHUNKS in my opinion, but the vxt6's were very very nice. My personal fav's were the hm80's......but they are too big for my taste/space.

So, in conclusion, for my limited space and the fact that these "little" monitors just sounded fantastic, that was where I wanted to go.

KRK...very nice. Haven't heard them, I don't think; I 'll have to check them out sometime. Congratulations!

If it means anything, as a budget suggestion, I have my nEAR 05's and the MoPads on these great speaker stands from IKEA; slab of concrete, four thin metal poles and a chunk of MDF on top. Decent, cheap de-coupling solution.

well, they are new. Most online places are waiting for first orders! (perorder)

Ok, compared to the the version "6" vxt's they are not quite as "open" but for this size and price they were just awsome. Holy-mackeral.....I put all them through some testing! (many differnt cd's)

The jbl's were the best "sounding/acurate" of them all.....but they are more than I was willing to spend and WAY too big for my area!!!!

I also liked the the yamaha's (which were only 100 more for the pair) but again, I'm into the small space thing and even though they are relativley well priced......they are HUGE for that price range!

However, again.....I have still not been able to really put them through testing here, so there is a small chance I'll make a change..........

If you're in a small space (such as I), you're totally correct to stick with the smaller speakers; the bass will just bounce around the room and you just don't need that much juice, unless, as the E-man says, you're making Dance, Hip Hop, etc.

And that explains why I never heard them! I'm curious about the JBL's...

They look kinda like my KRK V4 Series 2 monitors. The little ones, that is. Let us know how they sound. Whenever.

well, they sound great so far!

They have the "front port" which I'm certian some people won't think is cool. However, in a weird angled/not acoustically treated room, this is a good option. I do NOT want a subwoofer, but I like the extra bottom from the front port.

So far, I'll try to put it into words (and I'll elaborate after my HOUSE FROM HELL ANUAL SUMMER DISASTER is over

) if postioned correctly, they seem to provide a very nice nearfield sound with plenty of definition and "there-id-ness".......if you know what I mean

There is a nice straigh-forward review in sound on sound if anyone is interested. (although not sure if you can read it without a subscription

)

Cool! Good for you. I know there's alway been mixed feelings abour the V4 Series 2, but with a violin, bass, hand percussion (Roland HandSonic 10) and a Yamaha keyboard + novation 37SL MIDI controller in a 16ftx16ft room with no plans to do the house music thing, they are great for me.

I even disconnected my Velodyne sub. Just too much for me. Even with bass traps. I may get the MoPads though. Been thinkin about it for two years.
