Howdie folks, I am having a problem with synthesis. Here is the deal....

Lets say i have sound designed a lead, using 3 osc, to make it easy lets say they are all sq's

Now, I have added, lots of LFO to each osc, used Meg envolopes On the 2 24 dec LP filters,

Threw some EG stuff on the detune and the amp...

Ok,

now I have 4 bars at 150 beats per minute....

Lets say, bar one has a whole note of C....

Now all four bars are looping... there are no other sounds going on right now,

just my lead playing this as you can imagine really moving square....

everything is looping around and around...

On the first pass, my sq lead, sounds AWESOME, and this is the sound I want..

On the second pass it sounds a little different, on the third and fourth a little more different...

on pass number five of the loop, we are back to having my sq sound awesome and this being the sound I want....

question... How do I get this to be consisten? I do I set the synth Up so that I get the same so of sound, for each time I input a not.....

if you have tera three I am willing to share the fxp file to learn something....

Plz advice...

im not an expert so maybe im talking s**t but..maybe.. calculate the lfo frequencys to loop in "four bars" (or the time you require) ? or set lfo to retrigger, and use a legato style playing till you want retrigger ? or export the result and loop just the part that you like ? :)

Post

Yeah, good Idea, I cant figure out to set the LFo, to retrigger... I dont really just wanted to loop the part... I am using spectera, that has a spectrum oscillator, so I am trying to get the it to give me the same texture each time I input the same not...

unfotunately I have messed with my original program so much I no longer have what i have, and probably have to do all the sound design for the first part of my new track again... but thanks

it sounds like you may have an LFO modulating the filter. does spectera have a modulation matrix or does the filter section have an LFO? if so, in the mod matrix take the amount of effect down to 0 or the LFO amount on the filter section to 0.

here are some nice tools to work with LFOs when the plug lacks a sync to host option:

be sure to grab wizcalc as it's BPM -> MS conversion would help for your LFO issue. simply enter your project tempo and it will show you stuff like this:
You said: 120 bpm

Even note values:
62.5 ms (32nd notes)
125 ms (16th notes)
250 ms (8th notes)
500 ms (Quarter notes)
1000 ms (Half notes)
2000 ms (Whole notes)

Dotted note values:
93.75 ms (32nd notes)
187.5 ms (16th notes)
375 ms (8th notes)
750 ms (Quarter notes)
1500 ms (Half notes)
3000 ms (Whole notes)

Triplet note values:
41.66667 ms (32nd notes)
83.33333 ms (16th notes)
166.6667 ms (8th notes)
333.3333 ms (Quarter notes)
666.6667 ms (Half notes)

I just noticed this reply... OH thank you... cool I am going to be downloading at looking at all of this.... Thanks Grymm

some host specific advice. when you said 3osc, -there is an FL synth called 3osc.
But I read you are using Spectra (Kjaerhus?)
are you using a stock preset? If so, I can take a look at it.
Spectra has 2 LFO's, btw. Are you using external LFO's to automate?

oh, I c, I am using, was using, Tera 3, a module titled, SpecTera....

unfortunately I have fiddled with it so much, that I no longer have what I was originally talking about. But if you have Tera 3 I will take you up on your offer in the future.....

but about presets, oh I am rarely using true presets.. nowadays... I am doing 90 percent all my own design from initialize patch.....

some of the presets, though, Rapture is a good example, just can not be avioded they are so fantastic.. as Grymmjack knows, I hate that gui but the synth is really something else... and I use them RUTHLESSLY!!!!! The rave presets with the SineVectOr wave form, WOW...

but Tera, this was the one I got for my own sorta sound design projects, although it has amazing banks, its so easy to understand her synthesis, and its so flexible, and almost anything I do I can tweak into something awesome sounding, even for a beginner, but

yep, that is what I am at sound design, so, I am having trouble, getting some of the stuff to be consistent... you know, to get the same timber on many instances in a note in a compasition...

I dunno.... if it makes any sense, but its like, a whole not d, on bar one, sounds different from a whole note d on bar two, but I want them to sound exactly the same... I can do with rapture pretty easily, but back to that, her synthesis is very complicated to me still and I lack the experience to still to make amazzzing stuff out of rapture...

arrg, I am going in circles.... although it might just be unique to this Tera Module, maybe I should have posted in virsyn forum... I dont mean to wast people's time... it could be unique to the spectrum osc

got it.
Sorry, I can't help with Tera: I suspect an LFO sync problem too or perhaps the signal in the Tera channel in your mixer (rack?) is too hot, perhaps with a long release. That way, when the next bar comes, the first is not finished - the volumes add, and a compressor has to squash the "new" combined sound significantly (it's possible to get major distortion/crackles this way), changing the tone.

Of course, if it's a pitch thing, it's probably a synth setting.
