yep... agreed on the bug fest... but that looks intresting
I used to think the internet was going to unite mankind. Now I realize the internet is perhaps mankinds greatest wasteland of bickering, greed, and narrow minds. " And we all shine on, " Imagine that.

Post

Competition? Are you kidding? Scarbee wiped the floor with ManyBass.

Post

well, I'd like to be a little more "pc" than that..... :hihi:

It sounds goood, but so did the manybass samples. THEN, after getting the manybass release I realized it was basically the absolutly telented mr "gregjazz" that got it that way

I just checked the write-ups, it sounds like it's produced for Kontakt, but I don't see references to a Kontakt player bundled.

Either way, it sound gorgeous...

Honestly, these two are in very different categories. I have black bass (along with a host of bass libs including the Manytone basses). Black bass is a true instrument in a class of it's own.

BTW Black Bass does not come with Kontakt Player... "it is a sample library made for Kontakt2.2."

Check out the specs at www.scarbee.com

When you play this bass you won't be disappointed as long as you keep in mind that this bass has the sound of 70's disco and funk. It's an uncanny representation.

Plus the programming is revolutionary! Auto string selection? C'mon is there any other lib doing that? Well they should be. Scarbee has raised the bar for sample libraries.

Not to mention the price... it's 99 bucks. Needless to say I really love this library. I was using it today, in a session for a lady I'm producing and she kept saying "that sounds like a real bass." Well I said that's because it is a real bass!

ah, so you need the ACTUAL kontakt product first?

That will cancel THAT idea......... :hihi:

Post

Is Kontakt worth the money? I can't afford it.
Can I get anything useful out of the demo??

Post

Ni's kontakt is not the only sampler that plays "kontakt" files...........

btw, why wouldn't the standard kontakt player play this thing?

Post

Ooh, now that's a really good demo. I'll never be able to to something that good with any bass library :(

Post

I whish they could adapt the kontak script which gives Black Bass its "intelligence" to libraries like hardcore bass :(

Post

I can't believe they think so many people have kontakt that they would be able to find a good fan...........bass............

Post

well, it is easy - a KontaktPlayer bass would be more expensive and people would complain about software bugs (oh, does that really exist?) ..... (I think scarbee really got cured from that - and even SID-Simone who always raved about HALion does not even offer his current products as HALion - go figure .... - oh, not really right, the drums are also offered as HAL, the bass is not.)
A sample lib offers Scarbee to sell something of superb quality (for what he is known) and do not worry that much about software short-comings (which he cannot reasonably address anyways). It is Kontakt because it makes massive use of scripts.

I think it is great to have a high quality developer who actually sells sample libraries and not that closed stuff (like players). makes things easier for the customer and is more affordable for everyone .....

and at the moment you can get Kontakt 2 with tutorial DVD pretty cheap or second hand you often find it quite affordable. And that offers you much more than any scrippled player.

Post

I hear ya, but all I'm willing to spend is the 99 bucks, so unfortunately this won't work for me................

Now again, there ARE players that do kontakt format (though I cannot remember them) so there is hope yet???

Hell, I can play all those parts........but who the hell has a way to mount a bass, and a guitar within' the daw setup to do ALL when the ideas come?

Post

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the kind words!

hibidy: thanks for your interest in Black Bass. To my knowledge you need Kontakt 2 to play it. Distributing it as a sample library has many advantages: much lower price (Kontakt 2 Player license fees are quite high), increased flexibility thanks to it being editable, no unnecessary RAM overhead when loading multiple Kontakt instruments, and no registration hassle - just copy the files to your harddrive, load, and play. I can certainly see your point, but it's hard to please everyone. I hope you will invest in Kontakt 2 at some point. Btw the latest K2 versions are really stable in my experience.
