Wanted to let everyone know that DJ Vadim has released all the original solo tracks to his latest album "Sound Catcher" under Creative Commons license over at ccMixter. The tracks are there raw and there are also loops libraries as well.
Peace,
Victor

Greatness! Thanks for the tip .. quality .flac accapellas are a rarity.
One thing though.. Can I use CC-licensed audio for making records? Or is the license only limited to making private stuff for oneself & / live performances?
All of my labels' (3lreckods.net) releases have a CC-license, but I still don't know the exact details of Creative Commons

What is considered as "commercial use"? Obviously, I can't release records that are to be sold using CC-material. What about if I'm playing a live set and the organizers pay me money for the gig? Does this qualify as "commercial use"?Ned Bouhalassa wrote:No commercial use allowed.

ok.. i'm dropping CC for my label, I don't want to limit 3L releases in any way.. I mean, who's gonna play the tunes if the DJ spinning can't get payed for playing the damn tunes?

then what's the point of a creative commons lisence? It seems a little pointless. I don't need a lisence to fiddle with copyrighted stuff on my computer for enjoyment...Ned Bouhalassa wrote:No commercial use allowed.

well, to be honest i just guessed that it would qualify as commercial use. there are different cc licenses though so just pick one that fits.

Very simple, you just say "YES" or "NO" to "Allow commercial usages of your work."
I strongly recommend AGAINST CC. What's the point? It's just a simplified way of telling the general public "I'm giving you some of my rights!" It's unnecessary and potentially bad for you, as you might end up letting some schmucks steal your song and make tons of money off it. I would create your own license that fits your needs, instead.
