After not likeing Music Tech magazine a lot in the past, I have recently been very impressed and enjoyed reading it...

Anyway, this month they are offering a FREE Loopmasters CD if you subscribe. I've never been one to buy a loop CD, but I've often wondered what they are like, and the CD is worth more than the 6-month subscription, so it seems to be a win-win situation.

Basically though I wonder if anyone here uses this stuff, is it recommended, and if so which of the six choices is the best one to go for...? The six offered are:

1. Drum and Bass Masterclass
2. Disco House Sessions
3. Deep Trance and Techno
4. Urban Soul
5. Hip Hop Progressions
6. Combinations

As no.6 is a specific "production package" for Reason 3 (of which I am a big fan :D) it seems the logical choice. However, I can see that maybe 4 or 5 could be good for use in my other software of choice - Ableton Live - maybe I could use this to lay down a nice quick music bed and then improvise/record piano on top?

Any advice welcomed!

Thanks.

I've just bought the loopmasters Electro house CD. I was going for a Sample magic electro house but loopmasters offered download ability and was cheaper and "I wanted it NOW" :D The quality is good, what you get is solid for it's genre and works well. I feel the content is lacking vs the higher priced offerings like sample magics and vengeance sounds but you get what you pay for and I am happy with what I got.

Thanks for that.

Anyone else tried out any of them?

ive tried 2 different loopmasters cd's...none of which are on your list, but i liked them...had a large variety of things in them, good sound quality....whether its worth the subscription, i cant answer....depends on how much the description is....but if its $30 or under, id say go for it..

Combinations is a highlights package containing elements from lots of other Loopmasters sample CDs, with more than 200 Combinator patches.

If you weren't able to get this free, I would strongly urge you to buy it - I think it's the best VFM refill there is (although the recently released Garritan GPO refill runs it close).

Thanks :D
Will subscribe and choose this one then. A very good deal (as I buy the magazine each month anyway).

I have Disco House sessions, it's very useable without being so distinctive that everyone will recognise the loops immediately (which is a good thing, right?).
Well worth the £40 I paid, so if you're getting it bundled with your subscription it's a real bargain!

Combinations is pretty good - a friend recommended it to me, has some nice 'dancey' type presets & samples.
