Goldbaby is proud to announce the release of:

The Tape808 for iDrum, Guru, Battery, Refill and Wav Pack.
http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/tape808.html

Not another 808 sample! Well actually it isn't... this is 407 samples taken from two 808's recorded into an Ampex 351 1/2" valve 2 track tape machine! That's not all... We also put the 808's through other vintage gear and recorded the 808's naked into a Metric Halo ULN-2 firewire audio card. Then we chose the best samples.
All 24 bit, and all phat analog goodness!

If you can't get a hold of a real 808 then this is as close as you can get in samples... Maybe even better than the having the real thing!

Dusted Williams made a great track using the drums from the Tape808! He posted it on the Guru forum:

Gotta give kudos to Mr. Goldbaby, i purchased the mpc60 and tape808 kits this week, and they are just awesome.
Forget those vst emus, this is where the sound is at...

Also Huggie, this may sound silly, but would you consider making a bigger 909 pack, trying to focus on getting the late 80's acid sound ?
There is something i can't quite put my finger on, about some 909 beats on some Trax releases, that just sounds oh so special... :?:

Thanks for your kind words!

I do have access to a mint TR909. Maybe it could do with some 1/2 inch tape love! The 808 loved it... so I'm sure the 909 would too!

that's nice to hear !

Are you an acid afficionados by any chance ? If not, maybe i could dig out some tracks to show you what i mean ...
I really don't know what's so special, those guys didn't have access to really high end stuff, probably a big part of the sound in the programming i guess.

I had to bump this because I've been exclusively using the Goldbaby kits that came with the Guru 1.5 update. My goodness, they could've just released that update with Goldbaby's stuff alone. Not only does he give you Guru kits, but throws in insane bundles, patterns, and great samples from all of his libraries. I'm going to have to snatch the full MPC60 Vol 2. because that vinyl is just too funky.

Goldbaby, where have you been hiding? You just rocked the boat!

[EDIT] Purchased the MPC60 Vol. 2. Very nice.

I need to remind myself to get this and the MPC60 packs next time I get paid. I almost never use synthetic drums but these might be too hard to pass up.
