In the interests of not gobbling up space by starting two seperate threads, I've got a couple of quick questions that are unrelated to one another. Any/all replies are welcome and appreciated.

1) I have the version of Sampletank SE that came with the Tracktion 3 Project Bundle. I've discovered that with the slightest tweaking to the effects, the "Popsong piano Like" patch fits beautifully :D into a track I'm working on. The patch in question has a stereo image from the perspective of the pianist. Is it possible within ST SE to invert this and make it from the perspective of someone standing opposite the pianist, i.e., on the other end of the piano? I've tried seemingly everything, but to no avail. The sound in question is staying regardless, but it'd be the icing on the cake if I could invert it. 8)

2) In my insatiable lust for additional variety in the department of bass guitar sounds, I'm looking to snag either "Reason Refills Vol. 16: Triple Bass" or "Sonik Capsule: Bass Guitars." The Malstrom and Subtractor patches included in the former aren't a deal breaker as I don't use much synth-flavored bass and I don't necessarily need bass guitar patches in Combinators. Does one offer more samples and/or layers thereof on average than another? Does anyone have a sonic (no pun intended...much :hihi::oops:) preference for one or the other? (I realize opinions on the matter will be highly subjective.) The demos of both collections seem to offer some wholly useable stuff for my purposes. I may ultimately say to hell with it and grab both, but...

Thanks,
Jerod

On the first, my suggestion is to track it to audio as two mono tracks L and R and then pan them the opposite. That's easy enough and you can do that at the mixing stage.

As far as the Triple Bass Refill vs. Bass Capsule that's a tough one but to make it easy for you why don't you just email sales@esoundz.com and ask for a deal to get both. It's a reasonable request (no pun intended). But, you also can't go wrong with choosing either. A good source for bass sounds either way.

But remember that by reversing it, you are putting more low end on the opposite side of the stereo spectrum. If you have mixed, compensating for this on the original side, you may have to tweak your mix a little to "stand it back up stright" ;)

Also, you can get downloadable bass sounds for both sampletank and reason.

Squids and blades,

Appreciate the suggestions/advise re: reversing the stereo image. It's kind of a bizarre situation  ...I have two acoustic pianos (one from a Reason Refill and the other is the previously mentioned sound from ST SE) that double each other with the right hand and play slightly alternate notes with the left through the first verse...the left of both pianos disappear at the chorus and are subsequently replaced by a bass guitar for the remainder of the song. Each piano is panned about 80% towards the left and right, respectively. I'm hoping to get the lower notes to image further out while keeping the higher ones more towards the middle. All of which is being done for effect and is based loosely on a production trick Brian Wilson (i.e., The Beach Boys) used on a song in the early '70s. He had two tack pianos panned hard left and hard right and one is slightly wetter/more distant than the other. It's difficult to hear in the mix of the song proper, but it's quite clear in the minus track. If for some reason I can't get the imaging on that first verse exactly the way I'm hearing it in my head, it's at a point where I can almost live with it the way it is. 8)

As far as the other matter is concerned...Squids, if your reasonable (please God, stop me before I go for another obvious and horrid pun...) suggestion re: a request for both pans out, well, SWEET!. :D There are never enough bass guitar sounds in my world... :dog:
