Hi,

Anyboby has tried the kx-modulad yet ?

I built this one for you and I included inside some good things for the sound design. It's not a toy.

76 good presets inside!

Please try it and give me your opinion.

Post

My synthesizer KX-Modulad is built with my modules coded in C++:
wavetracer engine, oscillators and lfos, LP filter, mixer modulation, sync clock, dadsr, distortion, waveforms displays...

I conceived this one with my modules only.

I provide a setup.exe which install a dll with sse or no sse features.

This is a stable final release.

Post

----I tried it briefly earlier, and it sounded really smooth overall. Seems like that was the one I was afraid to turn any knobs on ha-ha, very complex, but the cpu usage seemed very good/low. I have to go through the rest of the presets and there were many if I recall. Looks/sounds good so far, but yeah, people should definitely not be afraid of the .exe or anything it was quick and easy, and it even knew where to install to. :)

Hi,

Someone report me a bug with the setup... but he doesn't confirm or post me a reply...

The setup.exe is made with Inno Setup, it's good and stable program.

If you have a problem with the setup, I can make a link to another zip file with no setup.

But to avoid several download links, I prefer wait before.

I use a setup because the waveforms files are shared.

Hi,

You can modify the path after you installed the dll with the setup.

use the setup to copy the dll where you want (it write nothing into the system and the register base, for the paranoiacs )and place the "KXDATAS" folder where you want and modify the paths (wavetracer panel) of course when you will uninstall, you must delete the KXDATAS manually.

Please read the help files

To see the Htm help file, you must push on the "help" button (Modular panel).

or use this link.

I explain all in this file...

Please READ THE INSTALL-README FIRST.txt and the help files
I apologise. I did read your comments here and the install readme, but I didn't read far enough into the readme. I just saw the statements that "The KXDATAS repertory must be copied on the root: C:" and "YOU MUST NOT MODIFY THE INTERNAL FOLDER NAMES" and stopped reading there. But of course you say immediately afterwards how it is possible to relocate the files, so that's good. Perhaps you could say "By default the KXDATAS folder must be on the root C:"? That would prevent us paranoiacs and lazy readers from jumping to bad conclusions.

RE,

That why I prefer an installation with the setup, 99% of users have a c: disk.

I edited my post when you read it !

Yes, It's a language mistake, by default is just!
You can alway modify the KXDATAS path after.

Please, use the help link.

in fact, the kxdata folder contains the shared waveforms, the kxwavetracer.exe and the help files.

The data.kxw is the link between the plugin and this folder.

Can you imagine if the user must open a dialog box to load a waveform. It's too much.

When I work on a preset, I change quickly the waveforms, I can make a complete preset in 5 minutes with this plug!
I worked one month to make this GUI with more 400 parameters!

I don't have C drive does that mean i can't use it?

i installed the DLL no problem but i couldn't install the C: drive stuff, and i think as a result i couldn't get any sound out of your synth.

Can't you let the user install it to what ever drive they like, like with the DLL.

cheers

Maybe I shouldn't have edited my post? I made exactly that point, but kx77free pointed at that if you use the manual install and read the readme file (all the way, not stopping after a couple of paragraphs like I did), then there is a way to install the data to somewhere other than the C: drive. Yes, it would be nice if the installer had an option to let you do that, but you can do it manually.

That said, I haven't got around to trying it yet, because this does make it more of an effort to install, and when you are competing for attention with everything else, it just loses out. Maybe on the weekend...

Hi,

Ok, It's clear, I prefer that you use the setup because it's more useful and avoid the user confusion if he doesn't read the install text...

For the user who have not c:, they can use this link :

Kx-Modulad-User-install.zip

YOU MUST READ THE INSTALL-README FIRST.TXT

The "Kx-Modulad.dll" must be copied into the vstplugin folder of your host program.

The KXDATAS repertory must be copied on the root of your disk
like this : " C:\KXDATAS "

YOU MUST NOT MODIFY THE INTERNAL FOLDER NAMES
AND THE " *.KXW " NAMES

If you place it in another location, you must select the "data.kxw" file with the "path" field on the "kxwavetracer" panel of the plugin. it's the same thing for the kxwavetracer.exe path.

" C:\KXDATAS\Kx-Modulad-Datas\data.kxw " is the default path.

If you installed the dll with the setup. you must just copy the KXDATA folder on your disk, modify the data.kxw and kxwavetracer paths (kx-wavetracer plugin panel)

I hope that help you

Is it at all possible for you to enhance the setup program to allow the user to also choose the data directory? Maybe not now, but maybe for your future products? (Of course, that won't help for the people who refuse to run the setup program. ;-))

Post

Yes, I can do it, I think.

But I did not understand their problem with setup programs.

:o It's really stupid to tell me that they don't try my synthesizer because the install file is a setup.

I worked so much on this product...

It's very easy for the hidden users to say this kind of thing.

8) but now I know this user problem...

For me I didn't use the installer, I used UniExtract and it works very well without installation. Just download the UniExtract utility (it's free) and try by yourself. This synth is really powerful, nobody should miss it.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

Hi,

Yes, but if the user doesn't read the install text...
