i'm surprised noone has mentioned these. 'thunder' is my favorite.

perfect sized plugs. beautiful GUIs. impressive morphed sounds. these are very cool and definitely worth a mention.

The bird and insect models are my favourites. Really spot on. It'll be fun to try to program something half as good as what the first few presets do.

Rurik has some good information about them on his website, definitely recommended reading:

Yep, definitely the bird and insect models are Good Stuff(TM), and the whole package is the only entry so far that has my vote guaranteed... btw thanks for the link shamann, I missed that page, very enlightening.
The mind boggles.

Post

yeah, the things he's been doing lately, the physical modeling and se modules, amazing stuff.
this is a top class entry rurik, good luck.:)

Post

Really loved the insects. Brilliant stuff xoxos!

The thunder is my fav allthough it is really hard to read the labels. If they where darker then I would definitly have it easier reading them.
Best regards from Johan Brodd.

The Sounds of Nature have been mentioned on other threads, often as a possible top vote. I'd agree. They're genius.
TIME IS WHAT KEEPS EVERYTHING FROM HAPPENING ALL AT ONCE.

thank you for trying them on, and for starting the thread :)

oscine tract .sem at http://www.xoxos.net/sem/sem.html
(i'd post .se1 files, but they're full of ck modules)

chris has released a new graphic envelope that eliminates all the sliders, which would have required manual settings transfer.. i'm going to sit on these for a while, let them simmer, look into spline interfaces et c. but will update/amend this theme :)

warning: dev talk follows :p

unlike some other structures (...) the 3-arm waveguide is stable and doesn't ~'cascade overload,' which i'm fairly sure is due to the odd waveguide count.

oc i kept thinking of lovecraft's elder gods (or whatever..) the five-sided creatures with ululating voices..

..extrapolating a higher count radial waveguide, i would expect similar timbre to sinus fm/pm synthesis.. but with the soft modal transitioning that occurs in this model. don't know how you'd tune it or play it, and atm i'm interested in other projects. thought i'd kick it out here :)

jobro: i can post a one-off of thunder with the b/g a shade darker, but don't want to change the main d/l cos i'm happy with it. for my old eyes i keep the brightness/contrast as low as possible :)

I'd just like to say that I was playing with Oscine Tract the other night with my headphones on, and I don't think I was playing to loudly, and our labrador went ballistic, looking for the bird to bark at. I call that a very successful physical model.

Thanks for a very inventive entry.

Post

both oscine tract and synsect generate lots of (unnaturally) loud high frequencies.. careful with those headphones. they're like patching cymbal synths.. 10 minutes can fry me.

:)

Hehehe. My wife and I were wondering whether the dog was hearing a lot more high frequencies than we could hear. :)

Post

these are very good and sound realistic

i was kind of wanting to be able to play different notes though...i know on some patches you can sort of do that
i guess i could just record then change the pitch if i wanted

on a side note (which has nothing to do with dc07) i can't get the free version of steam working.. it worked when i first dled it, and every now and then some patches work but not most of em... what do i do?
