Ok, I know I've posted about sample slicers already and I've gotten some good suggestions. However, I'm just needing options.

I'm looking at Edison, but when looking at the rest of the Juice Pack, I'm not sure there is much there that I need. So I figured I would look for other options.

Basically, I need:

Sample slicing of beats or notes recorded in order
Ability to change, add, delete regions
Export with some kind of naming conventions
Preferrably be able to edit volume envelopes and some other stuff all inside
It would be nice if they could set loop points, but not necessary

Does something else exist? Recycle and Phatmatik Pro are both out of my current range. Even for Juicepack I'll have to either save or sell a couple of things.

I do own Tracktion, Sonar, Podium, and EXT. So if you know a good way within those hosts to do this, please let me know. I have messed with Audiosnap in Sonar, but can't seem to figure out how to do what I'm trying to do.

Anyways, sorry to be persistant about this, and to those who have made suggestions, I greatly appreciate it. All programs I've tried seem to do part of what I want, but miss some other functionality.

Can Edison even do EVERYTHING I listed above?

Also, I'm without an audio editor at this time because I've been doing stuff at work where we have Audition. But for myself, I use Wavosaur. I can't afford one of the larger audio editors right now.

I appreciate the help. I'm just wanting to make the most efficient way for editing some upcoming sample libraries. Thanks guys.

If you already have FL Studio the slicer will do all of that and you can export in Acid format and save slice markers

I don't have FL Studio.

I also don't need ACID export, although it won't hurt.

Also, is that in all versions of FL Studio? I can still look at it as an option.

I think the stuff in the Juicepack are cool, but they don't fill any real holes in what I have. They might be useful at some point, but if all I use is Edison, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Reaper seems to be the only other alternative - unreal, considering this is 2007 and you would have expected there would be some freeware slicers with multiple wav export ala ReCycle.

Well, Reaper has been an option. I like the tab to transient, and even the export. But I'm going to be completely honest and say that it IS a bit clunky for me. I have tried and tried and tried to like Reaper. I've even created my own themes for it trying to see if it works. But there's just something about it that hasn't clicked. I haven't said this in my latest threads at the Reaper forums, because I don't want to deal with whatever responses I might get.

But it might happen someday. It took me a while to get used to Sonar as well, but now I love it.

I'm looking at the cheapest FL Studio version being only $50. I'm downloading the demo now, which apparently lets you do everything but save. I might be able to swing the Fruity Loops edition as well if I sell a couple of things.

But since I haven't tried it yet. So I have no idea. I'm considering all options right now.

Ok, in messing with Edison, it seems that when used as a VSTi it loses the mouse wheel zoom and some of it's key commands. They only work when it's inserted in FL Studio?

That's pretty disappointing if that is the case.

Wow, I'm really just not liking the fact that Edison loses all of it's hotkeys AND the mouse wheel scroll in VSTi mode. I really like how it works inside FL Studio, but the rest of FL Studio just isn't clicking with me. Nothing there that I need at ALL so far as I can see.

Any other options out there within the price range of the Juicepack?

the best way to zoom in edison is to middle-click (or alt + left click) & move in all directions

Ok, that worked fine. And it's MUCH easier than using the buttons and that bottom overview section. It's still not natural for me since I'm used to the scroll wheel in most apps. But I could get used to it.

beatcreator will do everything and it can export slices as wav+midi or even as a soundfont ready to load (you give a name and it useses this name and adds a number for each slice). only: the future of this product is very uncertain, but it does very well what you need.

I just downloaded beatcreator and I'll see what it looks like.

By the way, I really like BeatCreator so far. It seems very powerful. I'll mess around with it some more before choosing, of course. I liked Edison because it can be a VSTi, but it's not quite as powerful so far it seems.

I don't absolutely HAVE to have it inside the host though.
