hahaha

still nobody cares!

Hard to believe how many other threads of "not so essential" stuff get major hits, and something this important is "not" important.....

Actually, I really just wanna share warm fuzzies about it with people  :hihi:

I have a Tranzport which works quite well. Ironically, I literally just hooked it back up about 15 minutes ago - slowly reinstalling things on recent new DAW. Also my studio configuration had changed and I hadn't really needed the "remote" transport controls recently. But it still works great even sitting right at the machine since it basically auto-maps the transport controls and some other things in most hosts, so I decided to hook it up again. That'll be that many fewer things to map or MIDI learn, etc.

The AlphaTrack looks pretty interesting. I don't have an overwhelming need for it given the MIDI controllers I have, but it probably works very well and the fact that hosts have pretty good built-in or add-on support for the Tranzport (as opposed to masquerading as a Mackie Control or something) makes me think this would be similarly well supported.

For the record I guess its closest competitor (AFAIK) should be mentioned, the Presonus Faderport:

The coolest things are the little "jog" stripe and the one click/shift click to get to all the little parameters.

The jog is sick, one finger scrub (sound or not) and two fingers for fast shuttle.

It's nice to have the pan in a controller........and it's nice that it can be rotory OR fader

Post

You can swap the fader and the panners (really helps with automation)

again, the jog stip is awsome........

it's much easier to use than SOME mags are saying.

since it has many of the basics built in, you can track much easier. I don't know about you, but unless you have a big-boy (mackie) having all the record/solo/etc per track is really nice. Sure, the keyboard works fine, but not so much with just a mouse. It's really cool as a "quickness" tool.

yeah, alright, your new toy is cool.

Jeez, dude, just suck all the joy out of his life, willya?

hibidy -- I haven't had a chance to try one yet, but I've been reading up on them, and it's definitely an Object of Lust. Looks like it would be a real plus for mixing and editing.

do you remember before pcs when electronic music gadgets used to have one lcd readout, a data slider and a load of buttons.. :)

do one that makes all vst gui functions editable by a data up/down button and an inc/dec button :p
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Ok, this is very cool. Support for Reaper!
I've always liked Frontier Design. I still have my WaveCenter PCI card, the drivers were very good even way back in the day. Soild stuff, great support.

How is this working for you in the real world? Especially, how accurate is the feedback you're seeing on the Alphatrack screen? Any hiccups so far?
