Many KVR posters have been very supportive and have become users of our collection. We realize most of you are programmers and that our collection is currently suited for replacement, BUT our 2.0 collection is being mapped out now and tests today confirmed that it sounds and works amazingly (tests were with Kontakt but it will be mapped for a lot more).
So as a thank you, for about 5 DAYS, you'll be able to download the free SNARE 19 ELITE MIXER SAMPLE SET in both Wav and GOG format. Click the link to hear Snare19 along with Kick13 and their Z4 real room ambience sample sets:
www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo/elitemixer5.mp3
Go to Steven Slate Drums and scroll down till you see the word FREE and click it. If you don't already own the collection and love what you hear from Snare19 and other demos, consider buying one of the three sample libraries. Ok kids, go get em.
ALL THIS WEEK THE ELITE MIXER PACKAGE IS REDUCED by $30 dollars!

It works great. The only problem I had with the survey; I had to choose a mag that I read, and I wanted to choose 'none/other' but that choice was not available.
Slate, thanks for this freebie!

No worries MrM, I'll have our web guy change the mag question. This snare is a really great high energy rock snare with a lot of crack, a lot of guys are comparing to deftones. Most of the KVR guys are programmers and I can tell you, we are working hard on the 2.0 update which will add cymbals and map out all the drums for various samplers. Also, we are going to break up the collection into small, lower priced packages. So if you haven't yet, grab the free snare!

one think i would like to add is to the question :
you should have add a "other " possibility with an option to fill to know what actual sampler one was using ..Please Check All Software Samplers that you own/use

Steve, I think you would make a killing if you would make each drum set piece available by itself. Ya know, let people put their own kit together by selecting a certain kick, a certain snare, etc.
That way people like myself coulc compile a great kit from scratch. I have plenty of drums already, but that would be an option I may consider.
Just a thought. Thanks for the free snare!

First and foremost, you are allowed to use the samples in anything you want! as long as YOU are the one who has control of it on your own personal harddrive or disc. Thats all the license means.
Next, I'll have to talk to the folks here about breaking up into kits or even hits. It somewhat goes against our whole "virtual endless drum locker" concept but it might be worth trying.
But maybe we could do a one week trial where we would have each piece available as a seperate download.. see how it works.
When you consider that something like Addictive drums comes with 5 snares and 4 kicks for $250, it seems pretty fair to me at least that you'll be able to get the Elite collection which has 25 snares, and 18 kicks for around the same price. Plus its kinda cool to tell your clients that these are the same drums that you hear on a lot of big records.
We're currently mapping the 2.0 collection in Kontakt and we have devised a really cool way of switching betweent he Z room zones and also customizing a way to individually control the amount of Z4 stereo room ambience on every drum and cymbal. You can read more about the whole Z system on our features section btw. BUT, we'll certainly need lots of feedback and may also want to recruit some programmers to help us with other samplers, so if this sounds like something you'd be into, email me at support@stevenslatedrums.com

Oh, I'm not criticizing the price, just suggesting ways of making parts of your kits available for less, with the ability to build up. THAT would be like a real drum locker online, where you can just search for sounds you want.
It is indeed only a suggestion though, and I would never ask you to go against the goal of the project. But that's one thing that might get me hooked.
I think the kits are top notch, and extremely reasonably priced. So I'm even being a bit selfish in asking, but for people like myself with a specific(not very large) budget every month, it can help get those dollars out of my pocket!
Plus, people always enjoy spending less each time rather than putting one big chunk down. At least IMO, it is.
Good luck, and maybe we'll talk again soon!

I'm actually getting into the idea Brent, I'll pass it by Steven and see what he thinks. I honestly don't know much about samplers, but would you be able to import pre sampler mapped kit pieces into something like Kontakt to build your own kit?
Also, one idea I had was to have an example of EVERY single sample via the DRUM INDEX part of the webpage. So basically next to every sample description would be a little 15 second audio demo of that particular drum in action, in addition to having the dozen or so longer audio demos on the main page. Does this make sense or are the audio demos on the front page enough to show what the collection can do?

I think any of that will work.
For the individual kit pieces, you can provide them as just wave files, or in K2 format or whatever. You can still access the wave files that way. And yes, you can build a kit from multiple kit pieces. Then you can save it as a multi. That actually lets you have even more flexibility on routing and effects in the way that it keeps things organized. Some of Kontakt's own included drum kits are even set up this way, IIRC.
If you're looking for a good way to distribute individual files, look at the Wusik.com site and their new database system. Very simple, and it works on a credit system. You buy credit and then you can download anything from the library using that credit. Or you can just have each kit piece available as it's own product.
Let me know if you need ideas. I've been thinking about this tonight.

By the way, my whole thinking of this is because of your drum locker statement. This way, if I'm looking for a specific drum sound I don't have yet, I can visit your site and visit the "locker"(you could even call it that!) and find the one I want. Buy it, download and load into my sampler. Simple.
That may also help you guys because you don't necessarily have to finish a complete kit to add the pieces to the locker. Just add pieces as they are completed. Find a bongo you like? Record it and upload it without having to worry about if it fits with a kit.
Then you can still sell the full kits and bundles for a slight discount over buying things separately.
I just don't know how many drum libraries I've seen and bought where I just didn't NEED most of what was in it. Or when only a couple of good kits would do, but I have to wade through 50 kits to find it.
Maybe I'm just lazy?

hum to to that you would have to audition the samples to make your kit ,but to make it desirable it would require that the preview sample should be of a good quality , it could may lead that people just hit play and record it and then it may kill the buisness or am i missing something koolkeys ?
