I'm thinking about buying a MachineDrum but not sure if I should really splash out and buy the updated version with the added sampling feature. is it worth the extra cash?
any advice much appreciated
Is the MachineDrum SPS -1 UW worth the extra €400?

Well, with the money you'd save on buying the standard version you could buy an Korg Electribe SX, which is probably a bit more flexible than the user wave sampler and has more memory, with an option to expand. I guess it would depend on what you're using it for, though - the Korg doesn't really have the same "charm" as the MD's sampler and you won't be able to tweak it using the MD's effects and sample mangling abilities (edit: well, short of using the MD's line inputs and mangling them from another source), but if working with 2mb of on-board sample memory and a maximum of 32 samples is going to be a pain it's a pricey extra.
