Hey folks, particularly you Kontakt experts,

I'm away from the DAW at the moment, but could do with some advice.... hopefully you'll save me a long and expensive download...

Will the demo version of Kontakt load user .NKI samples?

I want to load up my Morphology library [which, since Intel Mac has been unplayable thanks to NI abandoning Kompakt UB development] and then convert my .nki loops to, say, 2 minute long audio .aiffs using Logic.

It would seem sweet that the same company which discontinued a £100 instrument might be able to give the sounds back to me for free....

The ZeroG stance on this was to offer me a 50% discount on the download .wav packs from their online shop.... but this works out at over £100 for something I already paid £100 for.... fat chance of that happening; sorry, ZeroG, but that's just crazy...

Morphology samples are excellent, but there's only one sample mapped across the whole keyboard range. Therefore, .aiff's would be no different in the final mix if I exported a long/held middle 'C' note.

So, will the demo version do this? Or will I have to sneak into a music store with Morphology and a couple of USB keys?!...

Any help always appreciated, Dan

My past experience with NI demos shows periodic drop-outs or annoyance tones, timeouts after 30 minutes and other crap. It's aggressively designed to not let you do "real work" with the demo.

However, now that Kontakt3 is announced, you may want to get Kontakt2 before it goes off the market (you'll maybe even get a free Kontakt3 out of it, depending when you buy).

Thanks Doug, but I already own Sampletank and don't really want to tie myself into another sampler...

All I need to do is load a Morphology sound, draw a minute-long middle C midi note, and export the resultant file to audio using the sequencer. I don't mind reopening the plug every half hour, as I can batch these up 30 at a time.

In fact, Kontakt might have been an option had NI not shown scant regard for their Kompakt player instruments.. I'm trying to get away from nki files from now on.
