I have in my possession a fantastic old Wurlitzer. It's one of the coolest things ever (especially since it was just dumped on me - no money was asked for!). The thing is, it's noisy and I don't know the best way to record it even if it was whisper quiet. I'm a guitar/bass guy, not a keyboard guy.
So, two questions:
1. Is it a good idea to get such things cleaned up or refurbished?
2. Does a DI help for recording, or is it okay to record straight into a mixer?
Old Wurli... noisy... needs a good DI? A cleaning?

Congrats!
Cleaning never hurts, but it won't fix noise I'm afraid.
Straight into the mixer should be OK, but a DI is slightly better.
Just treat it like a bass or a guitar. Should be charted territory for you
