Purchased new LCD monitor and my sound improved ?????

OK I don't know, maybe I'm crazy but I just changed my CRT monitor for a new LCD monitor (I hate LCD by the way, there is nothing like CRT.... but I have to keep up with times..)
and to my surprise the sound in my studio has improved.
The sound became more open and deep (improvement in lower frequencies)
I can hear it with headphones as well so it's not room acoustics, the only thing I can think of is some king of interference from the CRT that got eliminated, both speakers and amp were located right next to it (see picture).



So am I nuts?
Do I hear with my eyes?

i know this is a bit offtopic, but are those monitors event 2020? if yes, how do you like them?

did you move anything?
I am going to guess that your monitors have some sort of rear bass port and the LCD allows the low freqs to propagate more freely, while the crt extended backwards into the wave paths, muffling that crucial rear-to-wall zone.

but if you start tasting through your kneecaps, I take it all back...

a few options here

1) your nutz!!

2) size of screen effecting the speakers (they are quite close) <this would make your hearing any difference in headphones untrue)

3) old screen interfering with amps, (in witch case there would be a hum that has now gone)

either way if it sounds "better" its all good

maybe your giant crt was sucking all of the amps so the speakers/amp/whatever were underpowered and not operating efficently...

Yes , it's the 2020 and I love them... of course the Event Precision 8 is much better but too expensive for my budget....

I'm not sure how old your are, but I at least have found CRTs to have a VERY annoying high pitched wine, maybe that tone being gone lets your ears relax and hear better . I read somewere people over 35 or so can't hear that...so don't know if that would have any effect.
