I have a chance to get a vintage Traynor 50 watt Bassmaster head in purrrfect condition. Traynor info:

Both are class a amps, but the Orange has a built in attenuator/load box thinger and I'd need a seperate one for the Traynor. I played through the Traynor yesterday and almost puked like people usually do when a really good wad of dope hits em real quick..

I haven't seen one of these things in over a decade. Its just gorgeous. Its got a unique input system where you can actually cross route the inputs for enhanced shaping. And the distortion this thing kicks out..

I'd pick up the vintage Traynor.

The Tiny Terror will always be available in the short term, but you may never have a chance at the Traynor that sounds exactly like the one your testing. Vintage equipment varies wildly in quality and design (usually), so the Traynor is unique.

The demand for the Tiny Terror went through the roof when Albini mentioned it in that super long 'ask me a question' thread. Those guys are trendy gear buyers, and you'll see a flood of Tiny Terrors on ebay in about a year if the past is anything to go by.

Nope, closest match is the AKG CK-47 which remotely resembles a shotgun mic

Oh, man..its a beauty..This thing sounds so nice I feel like a retard using it. Its so damn responsive in so many different ways. Its got the most gorgeous tone shaping I've heard out of anything I've personally owned or played through..

Its also the loudest 50 watt I've ever heard as well. I didn't make it to '3' before the entire room started oscillating..

The coolest thing is you basically have 2 lines of 12AX7 tubes, but you have 2 inputs per channel that you can patch together, so you can run em alone, individually, or in a series and get some incredibly subtle shaping..Best thing to do is throw a y-switch in front of it and have all 3 configuration options.

Coolest buy in ages. I think I might have just killed my recent and enormously grotesque bout of depression..

tbh the only thing I can say that the traynor would have for me that's a selling point is it's vintage. However remembering back in the day I was never a fan of traynor guitar amps and really believed they were best for bass. I actually put them in the same class as the old kustom sparkly amps, again with nostalgia today they are popular. If I went back to 1975 traynor would be above peavey in my wishlist, but not by much...I would of gone for many amps first if given the choice. I know a lot of people are gonna say how great traynor was and I stupid I am, but I care not...in fact it's safe to say I would of gone with a sears silvertone over the traynor...but that's just my opinion.

With that said, as always it comes down to which works better for you and trying them both out is the best answer. If you're getting a good deal on the traynor it might not be a risky investment anyhow...just my 1.5 cents

The old 70's Traynor tube amps were great sounding, reliable amps.

If you have an old Pignose around, try using that as a preamp for it, especially if you have an adjustable voltage power supply sitting around. Try feeding the Pignose with 18 volts or so...

Actually, I might agree with you there, Hink. I had an old Silvertone 1x12 combo using 6V6s which was one of the best recording amps I've ever used.
