I have a delta 1010 and an Allen Heath mix wizard 16 channel.
I have the delta 1010 rack mounted above the mixer and I'm about to buy some short cables to connect the channels between the two.
Do I need balanced cables?
Someone told me that I don't, and then someone else told me that I do.
I'm still learning and I'm looking for advice and links to articles that I can read. I'm going to be recording jam sessions and I am using the direct outs on each mixer channel going into the ins on the delta 1010.
If I need to provide more details on this situation please let me know.

Doh! I just realized that I posted in the wrong forum. If a mod could move this then please do.

No, you don't need balanced cables for such short distance. Just get one (or two, or three) 8-core 3-meter 1/4" mini-snakes, aka "wiring loom":
