No ogg support in DirectWave?

As far as I can determine, DirectWave does not support the loading of ogg files. Each time I attempt (after 20 attempts) to load an ogg file as a sample in DirectWave, my sequencer crashes.
(I posted this information on the other Image Line forum and was told that ogg files were supported, but the extent of the support was unknown. Apparently, there is no support whatsoever.)

I've fixed that now and will upload a new public beta of DW to the IL public betas forum later today.

It's in the "DirectWave" topic of the "Public Betas" forum.

The new beta also crashes my sequencer when using either Reaper or Cantabile. The error message that I receive is that the program has encountered an error and must close.
Is it possible that ogg support works if you load DirectWave into FruityLoops, but not if you load it into any other platform? (FruityLoops supports ogg and has a driver for it...)

Ogg support in FL has nothing to do with ogg support in DirectWave.
Can you reproduce the crash? If so, can you tell me how, so I can try it here?

I just did the simplest things:
1. Open Reaper\Cantabile.
2. Load DirectWave as a vsti.
3. Click on the arrow head at the right of the screen to open the list of files.
4. Click on Browse and locate and open the folder containing the ogg files.
5. Either try to drag an ogg file onto the screen or double-click on an ogg file.
The hourglass comes up for several seconds, and then a message appears saying that the program must close.
I hope that the problem is on my end, or that ogg support can be achieved. Could greatly change the way we work, letting us make multisamples much smaller.

It's occurred to me, too, that the problem could be that I don't have the latest ogg codec, or something of the kind, although I have the latest version I've been able to find, and ogg files play fine on my system when I just load up an ogg file of a song.
Does DirectWave require a specific codec? I noticed that FruityLoops requires that the user install its ogg codec from a folder that is created when FL is installed. Might DirectWave need some kind of installation procedure for a codec, to be sure the correct file is in the correct location?

It has nothing to do with ogg codecs, trust me. I'll check it out, but there are other bugs too.

What arrow head? In DW itself or in the host?Jake Jackson wrote:3. Click on the arrow head at the right of the screen to open the list of files.

Wohooo. Just tried it, and ogg files now get loaded into the program just as easily and as fast as a wave file. Many, many thanks. Great support for what's now an even stronger program.

But wait: I just noticed that when I load an ogg into DW, it gets converted to a wave file. In other words, the ogg file is not saved as part of the multisample? The ogg file is just converted to a much, much larger wave file that is loaded as part of the multisample? But that means the entire advantage for using ogg files is lost. Why support ogg files at all, if DW only expands them into waves?

I've replied to your FL forum post regarding that.
