There is the manual for my Yamaha MG mixer. I also have an Alesis 3630 compressor. I want to hook it up to my mixer so that it will affect the mic signal.
If you'll see in the manual, there is an insert for the mic channel (which is channel 1) I have my input send/return cable hooked into the 1/4 input for the insert. Ok here is the difficult part here. I'm trying to figure out how to plug it up properly into my compressor. The compressor has two channels, channel A and B. Each channel has the same type of ins/outs. There is the input, the side chain input and the output. My input send/return cable has two mono jacks to hook into the compressor. Where/how am I supposed to hook them in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Help patching my compressor into my mixer as a send/return.

Your insert cable has two jacks on one end. Usually they are red + grey or white, or red + blue. They may be marked send/return, but are usually marked tip/ring.
Usually, red=ring=return. Usually. Tip goes into the input of channel A on your Alesis, ring goes into the output of channel A on your Alesis.
The lone 1/4" jack goes into the insert on the mixer.
Don't worry if you get them the wrong way around at first, no harm will be done, you just won't hear any signal.
