1) Main focus on good body modelling
2) should have at least Reverb and Equalizer(Lo/Mid/Hi) on board
3) Modulation like chorus/flanger/....
4) Any Delay could be on board, but not mainly necessary

Best effect I have for my acoustic is the Aphex Acoustic Xciter (I use it for my electric too)
Makes the guitar really sound nice. Good bottom end punch without being boomy and high end sizzle.
No reverb or chorus etc. Just makes your natural guitar sound nicer

I use Korg Pandora PX4D, with my electric guitar. I am satisfied and like it. Now they also have one that is for accustic. You could try it, I havent.

After testing some, I bought Korg Toneworks Pandora PX4A. Absolutely amazing sound for 149 Euro.
The best one was TC Electronics G-Natural, but that was out of my price range.

I have a Zoom A2 which does some nice things for an acoustic if you intend on only using the piezo pickup of your guitar. The A2 will soften the bite of a piezo and help give the illusion of having mic'd the guitar. It's not a full illusion, only a step in a good direction, but better than nothing. The A2 is versatile, considering you get a battery powered module that has a drum machine, tuner, and other FX in it that can be used on regular guitars. I like to run my electric sitar through it sometimes as that gives me new body resonances, etc.
It's a good 'practice' device for the living room, essentially, but one with some body-modeling capabilities that you can use to record with.
Try one first, though. It's too much money to just go into blindly even though it's not that expensive.
