A Moog Synth Anthology in one plug-in. The authentic sound of Minimoogs, Voyager, Modulars, Theremin, Polymoog, Memorymoog, Multimoog, Taurus Pedals...

It's shipping and available for sale here: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1661

(there's also a crossgrade discount link on there if you own any other IK product like SampleTank or others)

A lot of new riff demos, pictures and information has been posted on www.samplemoog.com so go check it out! This product is REALLY great for styles of music like Hip Hop, R&B, Electronic, Prog Rock, Funk... the basses and leads in particular are like nothing else in software! You can download the demo version and give it a try. But the full version gives you so many fanastic Moog flavors in one. The price is really affordable as well. On esoundz we're putting together a free additional bank of patches you'll be able to download if you buy it there (and even some extra free patches as a gift to you no matter where you buy from too).

If you didn't order this yet what are you waiting for? Seriously man... WTF? :hihi: Get it together. JK.

Here's the crossgrade link for convenience.

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1663

You can use our referal link to get $5 in extra epointz for your next order or you can just put in "Squids" as your referer if you're lazy.

Oh listen, here's a BIG tip on SampleMoog to know in advance when you get it! In SampleMoog there are macro knobs under "macros". These are convenient performance controls for smooth liquid response from a CC if you want to control the filter cutoff. HOWEVER, they may be set to 128 and if so it offsets the regular filter cutoff! That means the regular filter cutoff won't go all the way down in frequency despite turning that knob... so in order to hear the cutoff knob in the filter section working as you'd expect you should change the macro cutoff knob to 64 (mid-way). Then you get "full throw" on the regular filter knob.

This offsetting can be useful for setting up ranges of the throw of that knob though which is interesting and useful too. But, the settings of the macros of cutoff were supposed to be at 64, not 128. It will be changed in an update but until then if you are scratching your head about the filter cutoff in the filter section... that's it. Simple really but one of the few things that you might not think of... since analog synths never had those macros!

My copy arrived this morning. All I can say is it's a stunning piece of work.

The theremin sounds in particular have really surprised me as I wasn't expecting much from them. And that Glide Taurus combi is fierce!

Looking forward to the bonus combi's too whenever they are available, although I'm making plenty of my own already ;)

my package is on its way. will be here oct 30, 2007.

Any chance of a SampleMoog Refill for Reason someday? :)

Well, maybe, but what you can look forward to earlier than that is a COMPLETE synth anthology as downloadable soundpack refills on www.esoundz.com We're doing every vintage synth so SampleArps, SampleOberheims... That's coming very soon. Pretty cool huh? I've owned just about every synth known to man so I am finally releasing all of my personal archives for everyone to enjoy.

Any chance the Oberheim stuff will include samples of the near-mythical OB-MX?

You know, a friend of mine has one and... it doesn't really sound that good actually! Looks cool. I am not sure if I ever bothered to sample it. I could I guess. I think he wants to sell it if you're interested.

I owned one and sold it. It sounds bad in my opinion compared to the other OB. The OBM-X is a digital synth. Basically you can do even better sounds with an ESQ-1.

Here is a quote from the excellent Synth Explorer Website here : http://www.vintagesynth.com/oberheim/obmx.shtml
One historical point is that the OB-Mx is, at present, the last synthesizer designed by Don Buchla. Buchla has sort of disowned this unit, though. Its filters are actually pretty bad. They don't manage to emulate either the 2-pole Oberheim or 4-pole Moog filters In fact they sound notoriously thin and tweezy. The so-called 'Oberheim filter' provides 12 dB/oct low, band or hi pass filtering, with resonance. And the 'Minimoog filter' uses a meatier 24 dB/oct low-pass filter.

I'm not really looking to buy much in the way of hardware these days, other than maybe a Receptor to take my softsynths on stage. Software covers my needs more than adequately in the studio (i.e., my basement), and with people like Squids selling samples of vintage gear, I have a setup to rival anything Emerson, Wakeman, or Downes ever toured with, if only on my hard drive. I still haven't had the time to go through all the sounds in Sonik Synth 2, much less Sampletank 2.

One other question about the downloadable soundpacks; will they only be refills, or will they also be in a few other formats? The Arp & Obie stuff would go great with the other samples in ST & SS. And with Samplemoog, & Sampletron... I think I'm going to have to pick up a second job...

As Dave has mentioned before, my bro, Roger Powell, in addition to doing some solo work, was the keyboard (synth) player for Utopia and was highly regarded for his synth work by many.

What a lot of people don't know is that he was an audio engineer at 19 and engineered an album by Joe South (country of all things) which did very well on the charts and had a lot of covers that did even better. "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden" was from that album. So, where am I going with this?

Well, at that studio, they had an ARP...Roger eventually went to work with Alan R Perlman. This led to an eventual meeting and collaboration with Bob Moog. Roger even toured for exhibitions with Wendy Carlos when she was Walter Carlos.

Roger was very saddened by Bob's passing. Recently, a lot of Bob's archives were discovered and the Moog Foundation is raising money to catalog and restore these documents and photos.

Pay tribute to Bob and donate if you can. I know Roger would appreciate it.

Here's 2 items from the archives that I thought I'd share:

That's Leon Theremin in the picture on the left and Roger in the picture on the right.

Roger's in good company in that one

BTW, here's a pic of our illustrious Squids with Roger from a couple of NAMM's ago...

Just some trivia....
