I got DKS Pro specifically for this reason! http://araldfx.com/dks/?PHPSESSID=d89aa ... 5d377e4948
You also may want to check out Microtonic. http://www.soniccharge.com/products
I don't have Microtonic but I've heard good things. They are both drum synths so knowledge of the concepts behind creating a good synthetic drum sound helps but DKS Pro gives you a constrained randomization function that will create a different kik, snare, hat or FX hit everytime you hit the "Random" button.

Check out Goldbaby's 808 sample library, if you're after that 808 sound.

I would definitely demo DKS pro then. I used to own DR 008 and the one thing I found that could replace it for the sounds I wanted was DKS pro. I've gotten some really heavy, and powrful kicks out of it. Unfortunately none of the presets do it justice so you will need to tweek the sounds to really appreciate them.
