I am interested in the KB37 as an all-in-one audio interface/MIDI keyboard for use with Ableton Live.

Does it sound good? How well does it work for you? What kind of latency do you get with it? Is the driver for Windoze good (i.e. stable?)

Any comments on your experience and on whether this might be a good choice for use with Live would be greatly appreciated.

I have one.

It's a very nice unit. Has no sounds of it's own but I run my guitar into it and the noise-floor is very low and the preamps transparent to most ears.

The drivers are very solid and the build quality is good.

The pads are a little overly rubbery and stick out too much on mine but the rotaries feel solid.

Great unit on the whole.

I am extremely happy with mine. The included GearBox software is sensational and the signal-path is powerful, flexible and simple to work with. The unit itself feels very robust to me and it looks sensational. I had some compatibility problems with the drivers on my XP workstation but on my new Vista laptop it is rock-solid. Latency is a very acceptable 256 samples.

The only downside I have with it is that it will only transmit on MIDI channel 1. It took quite an effort to reorganise all our songs so cope with that but it was well worth the effort. MIDI controller and assignment is easy and I really like the fact you can connect two footpedals to the unit and route them all over the place - to increment the patches in GearBox, to start/stop playback ot to normal MIDI controllers.

I also bought a Gator bag that fits it like a glove. It is really light so I can just sling it over my shoulder and take it anywhere. For my purposes it is probably as close to the perfect device that I will ever find, so I've stopped looking.

That's interesting, I bought an Electro-harmonic pedalboard bag designed for stompbox boards but it fit the KB37 snuggly and offered a bit of room on the side for cables (and a pouch to boot).

All in all very chuffed too, although I never liked the GearBox sounds but it's nice to have too.
