Yeah...the vids are cool....BUT

I don't quite know what to think....great innovation or ultimate decadence?
When is Henry going to release something truly mind blowing...like a MIDI
guitar that really works...or new Oberheims? All those years of hype
surrounding GIMMICS/MAGIC and what did we get? I'm sorry but the HD-6X Pro
was almost as big a dissapointment to me as when I heard the hype
surrounding that new super group that was supposed to be called XYZ,(Ex
members of Yes and Zeppelin), and what did we get....ASIA!!


And what does this great innovation add to the cost of a standard Paul? Gotta be at least a grand. I think I'd rather just spend $30 on a tuner and do it myself. Now if they would just come up with a self driving car!

Do you work for Gibson Shane?

I guess this would be good for working muso's who use a lot of tunings on stage in succession.

I do find the attitude towards Intonation rather strange, because I play archtops that have floating bridges, it is important I check the intonation every time I restring. It is a simple enough operation in itself once you have done it a few hundred times.

What does "First run limited edition" means?

Does it mean that it is a limited edition, or that the first run is limited to let's say 100 guitars, but there can be 10,000 runs?

Yeah, I work at Gibson.

I'm not sure I can say how many of the Limited Edition are being produced, but I'll check on that. It is small enough to make these collectible, though. It's definitely not 10,000 and not even half of 10,000.

As for it being for tonedeaf retards, I honestly disagree. It's perfect for pros who need to keep their shows clipping along at a brisk pace. Additonally, it has the ability to help you intonate each string perfectly very quickly. Plus you get locking tuners on a Les Paul which is cool.

It's amazing how quickly it tunes to the presets, including standard tuning. They kept bringing one into the office and we checked it out. It's a nice guitar.

From the Tennessean newspaper:

Gibson will manufacture 4,000 robot guitars, which will be distributed worldwide. Each of the 200 stores selling them in the United States will get 10 — including Guitar Center in Nashville. The guitar will retail for $2,499.

I'm not sure what the actual street price will be. Probably $1700-1800 using the same discount math on Guitar Center's site for similarly priced Gibson Les Paul guitars.

This thing is really turning into a media phenomenon. Our ranking on YouTube was incredible yesterday as was the general traffic to the site.
