Anyone with MS20 experience?

Hi guys

i very recently bought an MS20 from Ebay. possibly a stupid mistake but i was desperate for one! everything seems to work fine until i start using the patch bay. now, i don't really know much about this particular synth so i cant be sure if its actually wrong. it seems like weird and unexpected things can happen with the patchbay but this doesnt seem right...
when i plug a jack into the vco1+2 cv (really important as i have to use midi), the sound almost completely goes? should this happen? when i press the keys there is a small noise, sort of an electronic pulse, and nothing else. then when i remove the jack again and press the keys the sound comes back as normal. does this sound strange?
i bought a kenton pro solo and when i connect it up using the instructions nothing happens?

most people say that this synth is very reliable and built like a tank so i was quite confident when buying it but now i think i may have made a mistake.

hope someone can give me some advice as im freaking out. will be much much appreciated!

make sure the kenton is set to Hz/V and S-trig...
