Can anyone recommend a source for some nice, free Latin Percussion samples - Agogo bells, Cabassa, Maraccas, Guiro, Cowbell, Clave, Bongos, Congas etc..?

Not loops; single hits please.

I tried Google but couldn't get any decent stuff.

Not free but very inexpensive: The late Doru Malaia's "230 Ethnic Drums and Percussions" set. Unfortunately his Website no longer appears to be there, but if you search KVR you should be able to find the email addresses for his wife and colleagues. Last I heard (a few months ago) they were still fulfilling orders. $29 for a mongo collection -- 6400 samples of 230 percussion instruments.

I released a bunch of free latin percussion... cowbells, shakers, agogo, stuff like that. I'll have to try to find it, or I'm sure it's around on the internets somewhere.

So what's the trick..?

I am registered there but the download won't work. All I get is another small window called "Sound Font Downloader" which contains some ads by Google and a warning "Don't close this window during download!". But no download is happening...

Ah wait... There's a Paypal button for donations. So this isn't a free soundfont after all.

Oh well...

hmmm yeah seems to be a problem with sf2midi, or at least that file at the moment .

Thanks man. I emailed sf2midi and asked WTF..? I have one of my soundfonts there and the Paypal button comes up for that too.

Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

I came across this recently, too. Just went there again, and found that when you get the pop-up window that says "Sound font downloader", the link to the download is the words "Get file" in very small type under the line "Don't close this window during download!"

Thanks for the info - I didn't notice that. But, it still doesn't work. The window refreshes with what looks like the main page, but there's still no download. Also, this small window cannot be resized or scrolled so if there is another DL button there, it's inaccessible. This is with Firefox.

I emailed sf2midi last week but they haven't replied yet.

In the meantime, Pantsdown sent me a link to freeztar's Brazil Kit which I am looking forward to trying out.

That happened to me, too - I think it doesn't recognize that you're logged in. I re-entered my ID / PW, and tried it again, and the download worked, but it was incredibly slow.

Looks like sf2midi has really gone down the tubes...

Yeah, they want you to pay for faster downloads.

Pay for a service to download free soundfonts? I think not!

If the soundfont community is strong enough a new place will emerge, but is it strong enough?
