Hey KVR members,

since I never had a real discount or sales thing going on and DISTORTED is around for a few years now, I finally planned to drop prices for good and also put an additional special discount on the libraries for the next two weeks.

The DISTORTED library in K2 and GS3 is now available for 15 Euros each until the 9th of December. After that date, the libraries will stay at 19 Euros each.

The lick packages (containing 10 lick loops) are reduced to 3 Euros each.

The one and only reason is, I am simply not able to create new content. Work just ran over and as I said earlier my intention wasn't to create another huge guitar library with lots of fancy scripts, but just to create a "brickwallator" for scores or pieces who needed it Smile

So if you want to check out a few demos, infos or plan on doing a purchase, visit: www.getdistorted.com

Just a little additional info, because these questions hit me very often:

What is the password to extract the zipped library?
- After you have registered at the CellarRoom store, you see it right away on the screen.

- If you purchased products and checked out, it is again written at the very bottom of your invoice which you receive per email.

In case you want to order:

- register at the store
- activate your account by clicking on the link in the received email after registration
- login with your account data
- click on "Sound Libraries" or "Loop Packages" to visit the product lists
- order and proceed as written

Okay, enjoy and if you have questions feel free to ask or take a look at the support forum here on KVR: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=73

I was wondering, since this wasn't described in the manual, is this all powerchords? If so, any special inversions or stuff like that, that I need to take care off?

Also, I found out that you seem to have recorded this one in a fairly large room. You hear a lot of roomsound, and it's heavily mixed on the mids. But hey... it sure is good for some stuff and quick sketching.

EDIT:
Nevermind, didn't know that you had a section here on KVR, so I found it in one of your threads there.

Hey Compyfox and thanks for your interest,

yes it is all powerchords as written on the website in the "what is DISTORTED" section .. (first sentence), but there are no inversions. All powerchords were recorded with droptuning and tuned down to low A. That's two semitones lower as you can get with a usual 7 string guitar ;)

There is no room recorded at all. For further info on how I recorded the lib, visit: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=107092

I didn't use real amps, because I simply didn't want to go for real amp sound but a hardcore, fat, brickwall and almost sick sound. You necessarily don't need real amps to achieve that.

Yes there is a whole bunch of mids on there, but I listened to a lot of recordings and thought that this sound might contain some of everything (in terms of hardcore).
If you want to change the sound, you can simply put on an EQ and notch out the freqs you don't like.

In terms of samples I always think that you can't have best result possible for all users, especially when recorded with distorted and amped sound. You just have to find an option. So I better try to put a little bit more frequency info than too less ... and only because there are some heavy mids on there, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can only use it for cheap stuff or sketching ;)

DISTORTED was used on a lot of licence tracks and a big game title, which was .... uhm ... about a girl who jumps around a lot in caves with two guns in her hands ... uh ... not allowed to say more :)

Just compare the demos or the free downloadable lickloop against other bands tracks or guitar sounds, but of course, especially distorted guitar sound is a huge matter of taste, since it is all a mid issue. By eq'ing DISTORTED you can change the guitar sound from noble, over brutal to sick. All options open :)

Then another question. The pattern (which I bought one of them), were they all made with these samples, or were they played live with single notes?

Indeed you don't. Maybe this is the secret behind all those "in your face" sounds you hear in Heavy Metal music. Additional to the usual ones with reamping or using like 3 mics per amp, and 2 amps per guitar part.

Guess that means that it's one of the Tomb Raider games. Anniversary or Legend? Hm... would be curious about some of the licensed titles though.

True that.

It will indeed help me in terms of songwriting. Sometimes it takes just too long to create the sound I want in RealStrat and several guitar modeling. But at least I'm close to rock, not ultra-heavy metal, but still.

Heyho,

about your question: The licks were all played live and with the exact same sound of the library. So you can tie licks and library content together without having sound differences.

Hm... thought I could recreate them, but I kinda guessed that these were live played pattern after all.

A hint on the licenced titles? Really wanna hear where this library was used in.

I think by "license tracks" he meant songs that are written for various media purposes (film, TV, corporate underscore) and music libraries.

Thanks zircon and yes, I mean licence music which is used in trailers, industry movies etc.

Since not every composer is sending me a list of what he/she used my library on, I will ask around if I will get some more impression or exact details.

I just wanted to say, that I am NOT going to change the price of the lib (I planned to do that on th 9th of Dec). It will stay like this!

Cheers,

Alex

For 15bucks, it's definitely a steal now.

 I saw the subject line and the first thing I thought was that there was some sort of pricing conspiracy going down in the samples forum that was recently uncovered.
