Manybass vs. Ultimate Bass Ki

I've got two friends in town who are world class bass players. Sandin Wilson (played with Quarterflash and NuShooz from the 80's) and currently plays with Gino Vannelli. And a lesser known, but equally competent friend who plays upright rockabilly, swing and blues better than anyone I know. Between these two, I have my basses covered (pun intended) but I still need something to demo songs.
Manytone upright bass is a given for me. I will buy this soon.
I certainly understand that manybass is providing a variety of post processing for the samples. I see the value there.
So the big question:
If I buy manybass, why would I also buy "ultimate bass kit"?

Hi timmcallister
First, welcome to the ManyTone and KVR forums.
I'll try to answer that question from you the best I can.
ManyBass is a much newer product that contains a much larger collection of samples than the UBK package.
ManyBass has the full VST instrument and the fx etc to run the sounds through and is a complete package all in itself.
The UBK is a Sample add on pack that needs a VST Instrument to be able to use them. Of course, these UBK sounds will load into ManyBass and will add tones and samplesets to ManyBass that are different to the included ManyBass sounds. It was a different Bass guitar sampled to start.
Just like our other add ons that you mentioned like the Upright - They all play best in ManyBass as that gives you a proper Bass interface. and they all add different Bass tones. The mp3 demo tracks on our site give a pretty good indication of these various tones.
Hope this helps and thanks for posting.

like I said, I clearly understand the value of manybass with it's postprocessing capability.
My question was: If I buy ManyBass, why would I also buy UBK?
I am wondering, as I can buy
- Manybass
- Acoustic Bass Guitar
- Acoustic Upright
for US $180
OR - I can buy the complete package for $200. Yeah, it's only $20. But I gotta save money where I can! Given that I will usually end up overdubbing a real player, it seems I might want to save the $20.
Thanks

Although the ManyBass soundsets are more extensive in some regards, in my opinion it's more a timbral issue. Of course, in ManyBass you get three main electric bass tones (with all their articulations for each tone), as well as synth basses. UBK is only one bass tone, but using ManyBass's keyswitching, you'll be able to switch between all its 13 articulations really conveniently.timmcallister wrote:My question was: If I buy ManyBass, why would I also buy UBK?
So like I said, listen to the demos and see if you think the tone is something you'd like.

gregjazz - i appreciate your comments on this. For $20, it would be nice to have one more sound to choose from.Gregjazz wrote:Although the ManyBass soundsets are more extensive in some regards, in my opinion it's more a timbral issue. As far as listening to the samples, yes, I've listed to all several times. Problem is the UBK are all DI'ed, and I have no idea what processing was done for the manybass samples. Makes it difficult to know what the actual timbre differences are between the manybass bass, and the UBK bass.
but again, I appreciate your thoughts, and I ended up buying them all...

Yep - downloading now.
Looking forward to using your sounds. And I would not have purchased if I didn't think you had the best product on the market (for my needs).

The ManyBass soundsets are all DI also. That way you have the ability to put it through the cab/amp simulation in the ManyBass VSTi.
