Running PC software on a Mac

Hi

I need to upgrade my computer and am debating whether to switch back to a Mac (I used to own Macs in the past but have been on XP for the past few years).

However there's lots of software that doesn't run on the Mac, so I was thinking about installing XP/Vista on the Mac running under parallels etc.

Then maybe I could run LogicStudio on the Mac side for those projects where I need only Mac software and X DAW on XP when I need to make use of an windows only soft synth for example.

I was just wondering if anybody has done anything similar and encoutered any problems? Any there any problems with file sharing for example - suppose I have a large sample library I will of course only want it installed once on the hard drive, will the files be readily available to both OSs easily?
Etc. etc.

I am from the other side 20 years old PC user , 1 month old iMAC user (my new iMac which I adore). Still I cannot say that there is any lack of music software in MACs. Unless you already own lots of software on PC and want to move it to MAC. But it defeats the purpose of owning a MAC then if you heavly depend on Windows. Maybe you should stick with PCs and save yourself the trouble.

But answering to you questions, I do not believe that file sharing would be any problem. However you may experience problems with some applications since it pretty blurry what type of Applications are supported fully in pararrels. Your safest bet is Bootcamp. The Cpu overhead is 1,5% in boot camp and 5% in pararells if I am not mistaken. It might be more.

But as I said If you really , really need windows stick with PCs instead.
