I thought that you guys might be interested in a suggestion I put to IK MM - and they are thinking about it:
====================================

This is an idea that I think will make SampleTank even more valuable for everybody:
Enable different instances of SampleTank to reference different Sound Libraries
- for example one for Guitar, one for Strings, one for Synths. All configurable by the user.

Here's a simple example:
SampleTank2.x_Guitar.dll uses ST2Pref_Guitar.txt
and that file contains InstrumentPath=D:\SampleTank 2\STInstruments\Guitar\

SampleTank2.x_Strings.dll uses ST2Pref_Strings.txt
and that file contains InstrumentPath=D:\SampleTank 2\STInstruments\Orchestra\Strings\

SampleTank2.x_Synth.dll uses ST2Pref_Synth.txt
and that file contains InstrumentPath=D:\SampleTank 2\STInstruments\Synth\

and so on.

Of course we would still have
SampleTank2.x.dll using es ST2Pref.txt
and that file will contain InstrumentPath=D:\SampleTank 2\STInstruments\
to get to the complete Sounds Library.

My idea is to reduce the size of the Library seen by each ST2, by pointing each one directly at a sub-folder. Each SampleTank can then load more quickly - and, as a bonus, each can use a different GUI colour, as each one uses a different preferences file. Electric Blue for Guitars, Warm Orange for Bass, Yellow-Green for Brass, etc

And it would be completely optional for everyone.

This would be fantastic and, I think, is easy to do:
- it should be manual to set up, not programmed,
- the only? software change is for ST2 to read a different ST2Pref file
depending on the VST's actual filename,
- the users can have whatever folder they want in the Preferences file,
- the same scheme could apply for the standalone version too.
