Do these plugins work unsupported? If not, are they in the mix to be supported? Also, does anyone have feedback on these plugins (please rate on a scale of 1 - 10)?

Hi, Phil:

I have the violin and quite like it. Its capable of doing a pretty reasonable impersonation of a solo violin, which is something no other sample set I know of can really do. To get it to sound like much though, you will have to simultaneaously work the mod wheel and and keyswitches with your left hand while using the expression pedal and sustain pedal with your feet.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be possible to use it on Receptor right now, since there is no installer for the Kontakt 2 player it runs on. With all the Kontakt player and Kompakt based instruments I have on my Receptor, you'd think there should be a way to open these samples without it. However, the samples themselves seem to have some kind authorization scheme which is dependant on the supplied Kontakt player and which prevents them from being opened by Kontakt 2 on the Receptor. (I have no problem opening the samples with Kontakt 2 on my computer.) So, while these would be great samples to play live, it looks like we're out of luck for the time being.

Hi Everyone,

I got Stradivarius 1.0, which came as a Kontakt library, and installed it on Receptor. This ran fine on Receptor, and plays very expressively (stunning, in fact). Unfortunately, 2.0 is locked to the Kontakt 2 player, and not supported as a library for Kontakt itself (or at least I haven't been able to do this yet).

Since this player is basically another NI service center install (like FM8, Elektrik Piano, ....) I would expect you could install and authorize this using the same techniques that others have applied (eg. deploying via CDROM, copying resources, etc.). I haven't tried Strad 2 install yet, so I can't say definitively.

Kevin L

So it does work... Hurray! I trust this installs as an unsupported plugin and you do this by installing first on your PC then copying everything in parallel into a folder under the unsupported folder?

Hi Phil,

Maybe I should clarify this a bit better -

Stradivarius 1.0 was released as a Kontakt Library, and it was not delivered bundled with any player. As such, the Library was loadable in Kontakt on Receptor, and it plays quite fine there.

Stradivarius 2.0 included some changes to the library and scripting, and was bundled *and* tied to the Kontakt2 Player. I have not tried to install this by any of the same unsupported install methods (as the SW in Komplete), but it is theoretically possible to install and authorize by one of those methods. If I have some spare cycles this Holiday, perhaps I will try this out.

Hope that is clearer. Best Regards,
Kevin L
