Okay, so I have SonikSynth2 and SampleTank2.5XL. I haven't really looked into combis before, having used the SampleTank engine exclusively, but in ST2.5 I now see a long drop-down list of combis.

Questions:

1. Did earlier versions of ST2 load combis, if so - how? (Still using 2.2 because of a certain FX bug in 2.5.)

2. Does the scrolling list include the SonikSynth combis, or do I need to move them to another directory to make them available?

3. The list thing is pretty awkward - why not some kind of categorized browser?

Help appreciated, best regards.

Hi krank,

1 Yes, ST has always loaded combis. They are stored in a preset folder. The easiest way to locate the folder is to click "save as" next to your combi load window. Mine are in a folder labeled SampleTank2.x/Presets. Combi's are saved with an .ikmp extension, so you could also use windows to locate any .ikmp files on your hard drive. I wasn't aware of any FX bugs in 2.5, we could talk about that too, if you want. Post more info on that one.

2 IIRC, you need to copy/paste your SS2 combis into your ST folder. They should be in your SS2 Presets folder, and you can copy/paste those into you're Sampletank2.x presets folder. If have problems locating those combis, do a search in windows for SS Bass. This is a SS folder for bass combis, and will give you a starting point to locate them. In order for SS2 combi's to work in Sampletank, you need to have the SS sounds in your Sampletank sound folder, too.

3 Unfortunately, there isn't a brower for Combis built into Sampletank. You can however create your own folders, and sort them manually in the presets folder into any catagory you want. This would make a nice feature request to IK.
