Thank you!

What a weird problem!

This is a really tight piece of music mate. This track is super sexY, and I think its a real deep dancer. There are some mix problems. IMHO.

First off before I go tearing it apart I want to say, I thought it was awesome. But maybe your ears got tired. But all in all this is a fantastic trip, and if you do a second mix I would love a copy.

Ok, now sadly,,,,

Although your snare sound is great the long metallic reverb tail is pushing to the right and is making itself seem a bit 2 dimensional.

The kick is to fat, and thick IMHO, I think it needs some saturation, nice comping. ( the kick should have a little more bite, and a lot less flab ) its fine with the bass, but the two together sound a little muddy.

The bass needs to be eq'd a bit more, its bleeding through the mids.

and the track in general needs more panning out.

This mix, is really up against a wall mate. its drawing out energy, and vibe. this is track, mind you is fantastically written, and deserves some remixing.

I SAY, rest your ears, remove, all compression, and eq, volume balance and pan out everything. and then compress and eq again.

make sure to cut that bass hard somewhere between 516, and 565 on a track like this.

and let me know if you mix it again, I would love a 320 kbs to dj,

thanks mate. cheers

Thanks! The whole thing has been done from start to finish on a pair of old AKG K270 headphones heehee. My nearfields are 600 miles away... so more farfields I guess hahaha!

So, my placement is totally pissed. But thanks for the pointers!

I'll have play around with your suggestions tomorrow.

:-)

P.S. There is another 'almost mixed' here:

cool, I will check em throughout the night.

so where r u from anyways? why are your monitors six hundred miles away? Holiday time?

Interesting track, HM. I like the progression a lot. Kind of industrial downtempo with some great synth work. Like the vocals samples and slightly humorous sound effects, too. That flanger work is outta control in the break and I can really appreciate that.
Keep up the good work.

Wher am I from??? I wonder that myself sometimes. Scottish originally. But lived all over London, Germany, Wiltshire, Highlands.

In Kent at the moment.

Was meant to be moving my gear from Scotland @ Xmas but it never happened. So, it's the headphones, the puter, the mouse and a UAD card heehee!

Thanks for the comments! I was hoping that some of the effects would be totally ridiculous heehee!

sounds good man. kinda reminds me of si posford and his psydub stuff.

really like the effects. some ppl may think it's overdone, but i'm really into the trippy stuff. in fact i think it should be tripped out more (especially the subtle high sounds) for more brain tickling.

out of curiosity how long did you spend on effects tweaking for this?

Post

I like!

Sorry that it's not more constructive - for what its worth I used to listen to nothing but rock/blues and jazz until maybe 6 months ago... and this i like!

Epic is about right :)

Can't think of any specific criticisms. I didn't notice the problems other people did, but then I was just doing a casual listen (which is actually how I prefer it).
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Hi,

thanks for the praise and flattering comparison. Strangely enough Ott is very old friend/collaborator of mine and Si used to live 5 mins from me.

I do consciously sometimes make thinks sound drugged out. The crazy flanger was a bit of an accident and made me think of nights on E. It still makes me laugh out loud.

I'm not entirely sure how long I spent on various elements. Most of it was written in a week. In a cupboard in a mobile home in a scrap yard (the worst vibe you can think of hahahaha!)

It was my first track in two years. I had been living in the woods with hippies and came to the conclusion that without a computer to make music on I wasn't a complete person.

I did a rebalance on some speakers:

There is another track there too

And some more rougher ones here:
