Hi,

I am currently in dilemma. I want to purchase a Prophet 08 but will have to sell most of my gear to finance this purchase.

Already sold my Korg Lambda string machine.

I am left now with:

Alesis Ion
Roland SH-201
Juno 106
Ensoniq SQ-80 (almost sold)

I am hoping to be able to keep 1 synth out of the bunch and am really undecided on which to keep between the 106, Ion and SH-201.

The idea is that most of my music will come from my DAW anyways so I am holding on to my HW rig just for fun and games when I am sick of the LCD.

All 3 have really distinc sound and features:

Juno is analog, great sound maybe redundant with the Prophet

SH-201 Great sound and moderately powerful, flimsy build quality, all in one synth, a charm to operate.

Alesis Ion: Truly powerful sometimes a bit hard to keep up with (small lcd/mod matrix). Might be an equivalent in VSTI (Virsyn etc).

What would be your take on which to keep?

Thanks

I would keep the sh-201 for the following reasons:

1. you said it's "a dream to operate" - that counts for a lot in hardware...

2. you have your analog base covered with the prophet, and you even believe it to be redundant (if you weren't getting a prophet, I would definately recommend keeping the juno)

3. I think (though I don't know for sure) that you'll get more $$$ for the juno...

Thanks! This is going to be hard...

You should have sold me your Lambda! :x

I'd sell the Juno-106 before the voice chips die. I plan on doing that myself soon.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
