well im enjoying mine.
i now have a 2 gig card so will be getting some outdoor stuff done over the next couple of days, but as no one seems interested ill keep em all to meself

mines cool... i did some patches in Emu X2 with H2 source material recorded at MP3 highest sample rate, and the results were very good to my ears....
now it's too friggen cold out to sample outddor stuff and whatnot, i'll do more in the spring...doing some renovation next week so i'll get some jackhammers and other power tool sounds...also, i've been using my modular lots more, i'm going to leave the H2 hooked to the tape out on my mixer so i just have to hit record to capture if i get something good...
at what resolution do you record?

I have the predecessor of H2, the H4.
The H2 came out 2 months after my purchase of H4.
The sound quality of the H4 is just superb, so H2 with 3 mics could be the bomb.
I was blown away from the sound that came out from 2 small mics, excellent especially for acoustic guitars (also had very good results with choir recordings - very good stereo seperation).
BTW, the first time I heard the difference in quality of MP3 between 24bit/96kHz so much.
Highly recommended.

I have just got one and it is superb however I cannot get it to work as a microsphone for my PC via usb. While that was only a minor reason for having it I did want to be able to do that. The driver does not seem to install for it - anyone else have this problem?

I got one, and I am very pleased. I went to a persons apartment and recorded a whole 12 song guitar album(acoustic. Took it home and was surprised at the clarity. Added some compression, eq and a little verb and voila, portable album done.

Apparently it just uses the Windows bog standard drivers and installs itself with drivers for a combined USB device (I think that is the name - this bit works for me anyway) and also a standard audio device. I do not get the standard audio device though just one of those horrid yellow question marks

I tried both the H2 and H4, and found the H4 to be the superior unit in terms of it's internal mic record quality.
Both are extremely simple to use.
I use it mainly for capturing sample sounds for theatre, traffic, elevators, etc., and it works fabulous for that. I did some experimentation doing acoustic guitar and string quartet recordings, and both worked well, but IMHO the H4 sounded far, far better.

I was under the impression tat the H4 could operate as a std audio interface, but the H2 couldn't. Was I wrong in that?
I'm interested in both. I feel more drawn to the H4 for what I would use it for, and the audio interface; however the size of the H2 and it's design seems a little better, but I don't think the 'surround' feature is something I would get any particular use from [but it's price is more what I would be looking to pay].

the H4 would be more useful as it has mic pres and i believe you can plug a guitar directly...i'm more concerned about sample capture, but if i ever get a cheap laptop, it might be useful...

Yes in the menu on the H2 you can choose to connect in either USB data mode or as an audio device.

i find very little noticable difference in the quality, main prob for me was the size of the h4, portable to me means small, the h2 fits in my jacket pocket with no probs.
