Hi, I'm thinking about getting rid of my MAudio 1010LT and getting an Edirol FA-101 instead. Any advice there? Will the latency be much greater? I'll probably use the onboard sound chip for everyday use. And I imagine I'll really want a PCI firewire card with my old X-Box, yes? Which one? Thanks for any input!

With the direct monitoring option the latency of the Edirol FA-101 is moot.
AFA FW cards, they are all pretty much the same. The only differences really are the number of connections.

Cool. The direct monitoring is just for recording though and doesn't apply so much to audio apps, right? I was just hoping for your experience there as well. And I'm also thinking about getting maybe a Vostro 1500 with a couple gig of RAM for work, has approx. 1.5 ghz core 2 duo. Will this be adequate for such an input device? What do you think? I guess I'd need a PCMCIA card for it as well.amarule wrote:With the direct monitoring option the latency of the Edirol FA-101 is moot.
Any input appreciated.
