BDM
Sonalksis TBK3
Shuriken CopyShop
Virus TI

created the structure of the drum track using the 3 BDM tracks (each with it's own BDM using azrael's recently posted presets)
On one of the three BDM tracks I used the TBK3
two of the BDM's were "fed" midi so that the drums keytrack'd what can be heard as slightly gameboy sounding melodies ;)

Ran that resultant of the 3 BDM tracks back thru Live and 'CopyShop'd' it

sent the CopyShop'd drum track thru SoundForge to knock off some of the pointy places...

Finally, added a very minimal melody/bass line using a Sine based pad on the Virus TI (which sounds exactly like a pad I used on my DX7 about 104 years ago :D)

These are excellent presets that azrael has come up with for BDM. I recommend them highly :tu:

hope you enjoy!

Very cool track, blort. I like the atmosphere and how minimalistic and "empty" it feels. Good stuff. Cheers.

thanks, xolax!
glad ya like it.
Only problem with "less" is that everything is exposed: ya can't hide it in the mix if there's a clinker ;)
I go thru periods where i really like it wall to wall, but I lean more toward less when all is said and done.

thanks again for listening!

Interesting. I have the opposite problem. All my good bits get lost in making too much at once.

I loved what you PMed me, and I will listen to this in a little bit.

Got a free week? We should make an album together. Or at least I challenge you to make a themed, semi-planned song cycle 8)

Beautiful track. Well spaced mix and solid recording. Less is more with this track. Nice work. I'll be sending you those links Sunday night.
This is added to your mp3 collection I am assembling.

Thanks for listening, guys!

@runny- I'd dig that. I know working with ya would push me in directions I might not usually flow...and that's always a good thing. I might have some time in early March. not sure...I'll keep ya posted  ...err...not sure exactly what ya mean in your challenge to "to make a themed, semi-planned song cycle". Sometimes I think my stuff is too formulaic already (hell...most of'em *are* the requisite magical 3mins in length at least
[edit- forgot to thank you for listening to the PM stuff. I may post that later here... maybe. One thing on the notes for that one: it was not based on tri-tone intervals. I'm an idiot. It's soaked in 4ths. duh. yeesh...]

@Jazzy- thanks for the kind words, Sir! Looking fwd to hearing the stuff you send. We'll see where it goes, yes? :hihi:

thanks for listening and taking the time to let me know ya liked it, Mrstew!
...and yes, BDM inspires...unusual drum parts as it's a very unusual instrument. I'm a big fan of Ugo's Ironhead as well. If you're looking to mix it up a little bit with your drum sounds- BDM and Ironhead will definitely get the party goin' :tu:

Very cool track blortblort, mellow and broken. Kind of like a malfunctioning ipod playing some early aphex. I really like its simplicity. The stutter effects also really compliments BDM really well. A keeper :-)

Thanks for listening, azrael! I am glad you like this one...and it's a true compliment indeed to be compared to aphex  ...while I've been a real fan of Mr. James work (in all it's ieterations) i've never entertained the idea I could compare my stuff to his. Some of my fav artists include his work, BOC(the Canada one :hihi: ), Scorn and Sweetback. If I'm lucky, the influences sometime show
Thanks again for the very nice BDM presets, Sir!

This should be on CD in a shop! And two hundred people outside waiting to buy it, <grin>

cool. minimal in a satisfying way. accessible but odd. the only part that feels a bit off to me is the synth melody line. it's mostly good, but occasionally gets too pat and conventional (the pitches). replacing some of the notes with well-chosen "wrong" notes would do the trick. if you send me the melody, i'll show you what i mean; you could accept or blithely toss away my suggestions.

a most satisfactorily filled 3 minute requisite.I appreciate the creation biog and some of the feedback/lessons there.,

thanks so much for listening, guys!
@liqih- does that even happen anymore? in any case, I'm always glad ta hear you liked one of mine. thanks for the very kind words :D

@rachmiel-
...or blithely toss away my suggestions
   you a funny man! I don't think I'd ever blithely toss away your suggestions! I did not necessarily have any misgivings about the *melody* line content, but I know that some of my judgements are opposite the pendulum swing from which I used to operate (micro-managing my music...) by that, I mean to say that I try not to second guess myself in certain aspects anymore and sometimes that results in my not questioning these very aspects that should perhaps get more scrutiny. Your input IS ALWAYs welcomed and appreciated. I'll be sending you mail- Thanks!

@auto_moment- thanks for listening! I'm glad ya liked the ditty and I'm glad ya found the etymology helpful  ...I picked the idea of 'splainin' how the noises came to be from another venerable KVRian, runagate, who usually gives the same sort of explanations ('cept his are usually more lucid than mine. I seem to always post to the cafe way after I should really be asleep  )

BDM shines in this track, the sound is smooth and light.
