SampleTank 2.5 on Mac - Missing sounds & VERY quiet presets

I think there is a serious issue going on with my Sampletank 2 XL install.

I bought STank 2 XL, registered at IK, downloaded the mac version of 2.5 as im on an Intel macbook pro and installed all 8 sound CD's.

Everything installs just fine but I have a few problems. Quite a lot of the presets are silent/missing? (this is the 4.xx gig 1500 patch library, not the 1800 dvd library)...for example, under Synth/Lead, Sub Osc and Sync PW are both there but no sound. Also, some of the patches are QUIET. Im not talking about not being quite as loud as each other, im talking very barely audible volume level. Organs/Large cathedral organ for example is so quiet you would hardly know its there. Adversely, other presets seem horribly distorted and loud...Somethings not right.

I have installed the instrument AND the whole library 4 times now, redownloaded the 2.5 version, put the instruments in diff folders, uninstalled Miroslav incase there were any conflicts. I have also COMPLETELY rid the laptop of any old traces of IK/STank/Miro stuff. Im lost on what else I can try.

Oh yeah, the patches are there in the Sampletank Instruments folder btw.

Im running Logic 8, maybe thats an issue but I cant find a single thing on the net about this...am I the only one who has ever had Sampletank issues!

Ok, more strangeness. I just went into Organ/Large Cathedral Organ/ Pipe Big Organ and it plays louder than both its parent and Pipe organ Deluxe. BUT, after 20 seconds or so, it seems to flick into life and go MUCH louder again....like someone has taken the cotton wool out of you ears! The other 2 do not do this. I think ive noticed this on a few other patches too. Bahh, I was really looking forward to sampletanking this weekend too .....

And another thing! None of my other patches seem to go all the way to the end in the level meter except Pipe Big Organ when it has its volume rise freak out. For example, Organ/Organic doesnt go above about a quater at best, Perc B3 Organ goes about half way.....

Are the majority of presets meant to go to maximum level on the meter if im inputting midi at maximum velocity?

Ok, last one promise. Drums.Electronic/800 series 3 just crackles constantly.

Me thinks its definetly broked.

Does anyone have a version of the instrument only that I can install to see if they have put the wrong version in my download area? IK wont be in the office until Monday :/

Right, Ive just opened the standalone version un and in my top bar it says Sampletank 2.2....wtf!!?

The icon in the toolbar says 2.5, as does the DMG package (SampleTank_2.5_OSX.dmg) & my download link in the user area. It doesnt say 2.5 in Logic though, it says 2.xx, hmmm.

Does anyone have any idea where I can download a legit 2.5 installer....I really dont want to download a cracked version but it might be my only option if I want to get going with it this weekend.

m-ac, sorry to hear you're having trouble - I have to say I never had any problems with my Intel mac install - and yours is definitely the same version as mine was!

If I recall, I downloaded the same version from IK [2.5DMG] and the install happened without any trouble. Could the IK link have been corrupted, or is there an older version of the 2.5 engine link that I used, that's now been superceded?

Let me know how you get on, I'd hate to think I sold you something that's not working properly..

Hi Dan, yeah, its been a rough ride this week trying to sort this out eh!? No worries though, these things happen. I dont suppose you still have your old 2.5 dmg do you?

I think in all of the licensing trouble and confusion, Paul at IK has given me a dodgy version in the user area. Seems funny how it says 2.2 in the standalone no? If someone on mac could confirm what their standalone says that would be a massive help!

I should probably add that ive tried downloading the demo from the IK site but what do you know, THE LINK IS DOWN

m-ac, sorry, I'm writing this on a PC - the mac was sold to the in-laws [Mac to PC? Yes...I'm the one... but it saves a fortune in petrol driving over to sort their computer out...!]

Maybe someone can help you out here. Hey, KVR, I can vouch for m-ac being a fully fledged and licenced user, not somebody hawking for a Sampletank download!

my standalone says 2.5... but ( right click/ get info ) reports 2.2.2 . but I know it is 2.5
my AU and VST versions report correct 2.5 with ( get info ).

I use it in Live and Logic with no trouble, so it sucks you are having problems.

did you try rescanning the library in the prefs ?

I have my library on an external with miroslav and sonic synth, with no conflicts.

you can tell you have version 2.5 installed if you have the CSR reverb as an effect option.

Hi, cheers for that. So, to clarify, when you use SampleTank as a standalone, it says SampleTank 2.5 in the top left of your screen (info bar), next to the apple sign?
Mine says 2.2......Has noone got a 2.5 dmg they can send me...im desparate here!

mine still says 2.2 in the info bar... but I know it is version 2.5
check to see if you have CSR reverb as an effect... you will then know you have 2.5


edit... my desktop icon says 2.5

Sounds very odd. You should get in contact with IK tech support.

If you go to the user's area of their website, there should be a free download to upgrade the program.
