I'm a Cubase SX 3.1.1-user and installed Toxic 3, Poizone, SimSynth, Wasp and DX10 into this folder: "C:\Audio\VSTplugins\Image Line". But when I open the Instruments-Rack in Cubase, it shows me all IL-Plugins in the highest hierarchy "C:\Audio\VSTplugins" and not in the Subfolder "Image Line". The second Problem is, that I tried to install some new Demos from other companys - some Setups search automaticly for the VST-folder and all plugins with this function now want to install into "C:\Audio\VSTplugins\Image Line"??? I had exactly the same Problem on my old Computer. Damn - I'm german and I want order on my Harddisc. Could someone please fix this problem?

About the first problem, this is up to Cubase.
About the second one:
1. open registry editor:
- click on the Start menu and choose Run...
- type regedit and click OK
2. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\VST
3. change the value VSTPluginsPath to the one you want plugins to use

audiot - with Cubase - it might be finding two versions of the plugin and reporting only the first one that it finds. Double check that the dll files are only in that one location.

I checked the VST-folder - no double files. I can't believe that this is a Cubase-Problem. I have a lot of plugins installed in subfolders and they all work fine. It's really strange that the Setups of the IL-plugins change the VST-path in the registry - could it be that this has something to do with the VST-path of FL-Studio? Come on reflex you can't be serious - my nick is audiot, but I'm not an idiot ...

Did you check the setting in the registry that I mentioned?

Yes I checked it and I changed the Registry-Settings. But I'm more interested in a solution for the first problem. It's really sad - I love these plugins exspecially Toxic and Poizone, but I don't trust plugins, that do such strange things and so I deinstalled them.

The plugin installers indeed set the VST path, but only if it's not set yet.
About the hierarchy, it's up to Cubase to decide how it shows plugins. It could use the company string from the plugin, or it could use the actual subfolder on the harddisk, or it could use neither. From what you're saying, it seems like it uses neither.

So why don't you remove the company string and the registry-changing-routine from the plugins? Sorry man - I really love these plugins, but such strange problems are pissing me off ...

The installers have two destination paths:
- the first one is the data path, which can be anywhere
- the second is the location where you normally install your VST plugins. Only the plugin dll is put here, and it can be moved later
I'll see if I can improve setting the VST path though.

That would be great, because this strange installation-behavior doesn't match with the professional sound of the plugins. Thank you for your support and sorry for stressing you with my strange english.reflex wrote: I'll see if I can improve setting the VST path though.

I've removed the code that sets the VST path from the installers. However, this will only become apparent as the plugins are updated.

I don't understand why don't upload the new versions now?reflex wrote:I've removed the code that sets the VST path from the installers. However, this will only become apparent as the plugins are updated.

Mostly because it's a lot of work. I think it's better to upload them as new versions are necessary.
