Some time ago a guy on a forum asked if I could do a rock song using Black Bass Amped demo.. well the demo turned out to be a song - using BB Amped 2.

I have composed, produced "Can It Be True" and do all instruments and vocals on it.

Hope you enjoy - this is first vocal song ever made public for real in my life.

I hope to be able to produce and upload more songs soon as I have composed a load of them lately..

Warning...it's not funk..

Other Scarbee sounds on track: Classic Electric Piano (with VKFX), Sticky Electric Piano and Funky Electric Piano-CA (with Distortion)

Nice vocals, nice song. Keep it up, and have confidence! :tu:

And yes you are an old school, dinosaur... but that's ok... :)

Three words: Ex cel lent!

I'm a Black Bass user and when I saw your announcement I thought, cool, let's listen what the Black Bass sounds like when "the man" plays it himself. So, I started listening to the song and after it was finished I realised I had totally forgotten to pay attention to the bass. I just got too caught up in the song! :D

It has a really cool laid-back 80's vibe. I get reminded of Tears for Fears (one of my favourite bands back in those days). Anyway, wonderful playing, brilliant mix, great vocals!! That's enough of constructive critisism. You should share this song with everyone = post it in the music café!

Now I have to listen to the song again and this time see if I can concentrate on the bass... :hihi:

Looking forward to hearing your upcoming songs! When's the album coming out!?

What other instruments have you used btw, besides the Scarbee ones you mention? Just curious. (The soft portamento-lead-thingy is really sweet for example).

There we go, now I've listened to the song 10 times and managed to concentrate on the bass too, at least once.

F***ing hell, the bass-line in the chorus is awesome! :-o

Black Bass is so damn cool! When I first listened to demos of BB, I thought it sounded much too disco/funky (sorry Mr.S, I know that's blasphemy to you). I didn't think that sound would fit the style of music I do (rock/pop, like). *But* I had Ampeg SVX from before though, so I decided to get Black Bass (DI) anyway, thinking I should probably be able to tweak the sound enough to suit my taste. I just couldn't pass on a bass sample set with playability and articulations like this!

To cut a long story short, with Ampeg it was no problem at all to tweak the BB sound to fit my style of music. And that's what I hear in your song too. The Amped 2 version of BB doesn't sound disco or funk, but fits the pop style of your song perfectly (and that characteristic "growl" BB has works magic in the choruses!).

Hats off to you sir.

Hey pekadan,

Really glad you like the song. It took me 25 years to get the courage to sing and publish songs.

I have so many new songs that I need to produce and record now and also songs from the last 25 years I never made public.

Songs will vary in style - but I like the sounds of the eighties - the ideas and the colourful productions, but offcourse I will try to add year 2008 to it.

About an Album? Well time will show if any record companies are interested.

If not - I will release an album myself.
