Humble synths

Rock Hardbuns ol' bag o' bag contents.
I've been writing little one trick ponies lately. As experiments sort of. Most come out horribly deformed, and the first sound they make is "khhiiiilll meeeehhhh".
Some survived though. These are them (all win32 VSTi:s):
SawTootPoly:
10 saws, 5 per channel with adjustable random detuning. Low pass filter and envelopes. That's it basically. Use with stereo delay to bring out the rich tone.
SawTootMono:
Same as above, only monophonic with glide(time constant). My personal fave. Makes a kick ass 70's TV show style lead sound if you pull down on the filter.
Cake:
4 op phase modulation (A.k.a FM) synthesis. The operators are locked in the single stack configuration. (4 mods 3, 3 mods 2, 2 mods 1.) Designed specifically for stompy techno bass but can do other basic FM things too.
Seeing as it is possibly the simplest implementation of FM one can do and still have it be useful, it might be fun for people who have yet to "get" FM.
A dab of slow flanger brings out the synthetic quality and cuts down on the fat low mids. Try the patches.
Padiepoo:
Simplest possible implementation of Paul Nasca's PAD synthesis (like in Zynaddsubfx), plus a low pass filter. For being so simple, it can create some stunning sounds.
Perkele:
Drum synth. I posted this earlier, for a bit. This version has 8 channels, but they are not assignable to keys. (It's so much easier to use when you don't have to think about which channel goes to which key.) So if you want to layer channels you have to do it in the midi track. Treat it with care and affection and it will give a kick drum that will rip your balls clean off in return...in a good way.
Those are them. As you'll notice they are all fairly raw in nature. No FX and so forth. Some care has however been taken to make them sound good. They are all 2x oversampled with manually tuned down sampling filers.
No pitchbend or modulation stuff. Automation should work, though I haven't tested it at all.

Thanks!
I should add, that this version has the crusher before the filter, though it is still after in the GUI layout. But I think that's more useful. Also, be aware that it is not preset compatible with the earlier versions so if you are using it in a track, don't swap out the DLL. Rename the new DLL or something.

I had a one-trick pony once, but it kept forgetting what trick it was supposed to do, so we put it down. It was a nice pony too.

Thanks man.
I've been digging the idea of one trick tools and I like your little perc plug already, consider it DLed.

Updated the link. I altered Perkele so that the tone component starts at zero. I originally made it to start at the peak, creating a hard click in the attack. Which I like in itself, but it cuts through the mix in a bad way removed it.
And thanks for the encouragement everyone.

The new Perkele doesn't show up in Cubase (SX2) for me for some reason? The old one was fine, and all the other synths work properly.
Padiepoo makes some really nice sounds, cheers for that one! I prefer synths that do one job well to the monster ones that try to do it all so keep up the good work

Thanks.
Are you sure though, the changes are all internal so to speak and all of these plugs use the same "harness".
Try renaming the dll and see if cubase isn't holding on to some old config and then aborts when the old and the new doesn't match exactly? Perhaps you can force it to do a fresh rescan of the plugin dir some how?
WRT Padiepoo: I wrote it as a sort of prototype for my next project which is in the planning stages. (Codename: Gaylord) It will probably feature two independent PAD engines with some new features, and possibly an FM tone generator to mix up the timbral spectrum. ...And maybe even a real GUI.

Very strange, I deleted the old versions I had installed and now the new version shows up fine. False alarm!
I love the toms on this thing

Oh, ok. Yes, they use the same "unique ID". I didn't think any sequencers used those anymore. But since you can load the other synths, it can't be just that either. It might be that it uses the ID plus something else that is the same and thus only loads one of them. Most hosts will use the file path though, which is inherently unique.

Yes, and No. Vex wasn't turning out as I imagined it so I gave up on it. Kraken got the source and made a Linux port which I think is working OK. The unfinished bit was more in the realm of tuning and polishing, and testing. And the chorus wasn't done.
I don't know how much kraken put into it. I think it's just a straight port.
I have a working win32 build in backup somewhere. I'll look for it later today.
